Study On The Current Situation And The Influencing Factors Of The Elderly People’s Self-transcendence In Taiyuan

ObjectiveThe research studies on the localization of the Self-Transcendence Scal, theninvestigates the level of the elderly people’s self-transcendence in Taiyuan city by theChinese Self-Transcendence Scale, and explores the influencing factors of the elderlypeople’s self-transcendence. The aim is to stimulate the enthusiasm of the elderlypeople’s self-management, improve the elderly people’s self-transcendence, so as toimprove the quality of the elderly people’s life, extend the Active Life Expectancy(ALE) of the elderly people and achieve healthy aging ultimately.MethodsSelect300elderly people who accord with the inclusion criteria and exclusioncriteria from the Xinghualing community and Xiaodian community in Taiyuan as theobjects of the study by convenient sampling. Research the elderly people’sself-transcendence level by using the method of the questionnaire. Study on thelocalization of the Self-Transcendence Scale, using the method of the Cronbach’salpha coefficient tests the scale’s reliability and using the method of factor analysistests the scale’s contract validity. The research investigates the level of elderlypeople’s self-transcendence by the Chinese Self-Transcendence Scale. Using themethods of factor analysis, single factor variance nonparametric test and multiplelinear stepwise regression analysis studies the influencing factors of the elderlypeople’s self-transcendencee. All data were statistical analysis by SPSS13.0. Results1. The results of the empirical study showed the Chinese version ofSelf-Transcendence Scale (CSTS) has good reliability and validity. The CSTScontained15items, the principal component analysis was used to extract the factors.The fanctors rotated by varimax, then keeped3factors depended on standard of theeigenvalue was greater than1and single factor explanation rate was not less than5%. The variations of each three factors was41.58%,9.15%,8.28%, and the totalvariations of all the components was59.02%. The factor1contained items2,4,5,11,14,15. The factor2contained items7,9,10,12,13. The factors3containeditems1,3,6,8. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of each factors was0.817,0.806,0.745, and the whole scale’s Cronbach’s alpha coefficient was0.892. The correlationcoefficient between every factor and every item that the factor contained was0.516-0.854. The correlation coefficient between the total score and the every factorwas0.826-0.870. The difference was statistically significant, which showed theChinese version of Self-Transcendence Scale has good reliability and validity.2. The score of the Taiyuan elderly people’s self-transcendence distributionsbetween26~60, averaged saore was (43.83±7.29) points, single factor analysis ofvariance and non-parametric test showed the cultural level, occupation before retired,economic status, personality characteristics, participate in group activities, thesignificant events were the influencing factors of the elderly people’sself-transcendence. Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed: the elderlypeople’s self-transcendence has linear regression relation with the cultural level,personality characteristics, whether to experience the significant events recently andwhether to participate in group activities. And the cultural level is the maininfluencing factor of the elderly people’s self-transcendence. Conclusions1. The research applied the self-transcendence theory to our country by thecombination of qualitative and quantitative reseaech method. And the results theChinese Self-transcendence Scale (CSTS) has good reliability and validity, which isapplicable to evaluate the Chinese elderly people’s self-transcendence. The researchprovides a reference and evaluation tools for the further research ofself-transcendence.2. The research showed the level of the elderly people’s self-transcendence inTaiyuan, discussed the influencing factors of the elderly people’s self-transcendence,provided the theory and practice basis of improving the elderly people’sself-ranscendence level and promoting the elderly people’s physical and mentalhealth.
