ObjectiveTo explore the effect of early drainage clamping after total knee arthroplasty in reducing postoperative blood loss and complication.Materials and Methods80patients with total knee arthroplasty between March2011and June2011, randomized into experimental group and control group. The drainage tube in the experimental group were clamped and released after4hour.the control group were open.At24hour before operation and24hour after operation, the patients’ hemoglobin and hematocrit were recorded. The blood transfusion and blood loss after operation were recorded. The HSS score of6week after operation were recorded.ResultsThe total blood loss in the experimental goup was886±207ml, while the control group was1208±314ml.the experimental group was significantly less than control group. The volum of blood transfusion in the experimental group was183±92ml, while the control group was285±135.There was statistically significant difference between the two groups in the blood loss and blood transfution volume. The VAS score of48hour and the HSS score of6week after operation between the two groups have no statistically significant difference.ConclusionsEarly drainage clamping after total knee arthroplasty can decrease blood loss and blood transfusion obviously and have no effect on the complication and the recovery of knee joint function.
