Clinical Research On Puerarin Intra-articular Injection Combined With Chinese Herbal Fumigation For Knee Osteoarthritis

Objective：To compare the merits of clinical curative effect oncombined therapy (Puerarin intra-articular injection and herbalfumigation) and intra-articular injections of Puerarin, thetraditional Chinese herbal fumigationfor thetreatment of KOA(Kneeof osteoarthoritis),and study effective mechanism of combinedtherapy.Methods: A retrospective analysis from2011June to2012June inour department83patients with KOA were selected to be divided into3groups respectively, Puerarin group consisted of30cases,11males and19females，with an average age of（59.5±6.45），wereperformed to2ml(100mg) Puerarin injection of articular cavity,once a week,5times for a course of treatment; Chinese herbalfumigation group28cases,7males and21females，with an averageage of（61.9±6.98），were used to fumigate with Chinese herb, eachtime30minutes, once a day,9days for a course oftreatment;combined group25cases,8males and17females，with anaverage age of（59.5±6.45），were put touse Puerarin intra-articularinjection and Chinese herbal fumigation. Gender, age, weight, HSSscore, VAS pain score in three Groups before eatment had nostatistical difference (P>0.05). Evaluated each group with the clinical curative effect evaluation standard,the HSS score and VAS（Visual Analogue Score）in six month after the treatment，and theresults were statistically processed and analyzed by SPSS20.0software.Results:1Efficiency rate of combined group is96%and obviouslybetter than Puerarin group(86.67%)and traditional Chinese herbfumigation group(TCM group)(78.57%).2The HSS scores of thecombined group between pre-treatment and post-treatment are（51.48±6.02）、（89.94±8.08）respectively，while the HSS scores ofPuerarin group were（49.26±7.85）、（81.02±8.15），and the HSSscores of Chinese herbal fumigation group were（50.67±6.19）、（74.85±8.09），the HSS scores of three groups are statisticallysignificant（P<0.05）.After Puerarin group treatment HSS score ofcombined group is greatly than others（P<0.05）.3The VAS scoresof the combined group between pre-treatment and post-treatment are（6.31±0.32）、（2.06±0.67）respectively，while the VAS scoresof Puerarin group were（6.11±0.55）、（3.18±0.4），and the VASscores of Chinese herbal fumigation group were（6.27±0.19）、（3.85±0.39）， the VAS scores of three groups are statisticallysignificant（P<0.05）.After treatment VAS score of combined groupis greatly than others（P<0.05）.Conclusion: Clinical studies have shown that the Puerarinintra-articular injection combined with Chinese herb fumigation,intra-articular injection of Puerarin and traditional Chinesemedicine fumigation treatment can improve knee symptoms andfunction, reduce joint pain, but the curative effect of Puerarinintra-articular injection combined with Chinese herbal fumigationwas significantly is better than the latter two.
