Volar Locking Compression Plate Combined With Artificial Bone Grafting For Comminuted Distal Radial Fractures

Objective: To investigate the clinical result about the application of volar lockingcompression plate combined with artificial bone grafting for comminuted distal radialfractures.Methods: From January2011to August2012,45casees of comminuted distal radialfractures of A3、C2and C3type were treated by volar locking compression plate combinedwith artificial bone grafting.All cases were closed fractures,with radical shortening orarticularsuface collapse.We measured the numbers of the palmar tilt angle and the radialinclination angle and the date of radical shortening and joint discrepancies before andafter operation,and evaluated the reduction of fracture. The clinical results were evaluatedby the Gartland&Werley wrist score.Results:All cases were followed up for6to18months,for average of12months.Allfractures were healed,and no bad response used artificial bone. There were no report ofloss of reduction,tendon rupture, tendon irritation or implant failure.The image date wereimproved remarkably.The clinical results were evaluated by the Gartland&Werley wristscore:The excellent and good rate of type A3was94.4%,type C2was87.5%,type C3was81.8%.Conclusions: Volar locking compression plate combined with artificial bone graftingis a good method to treat the comminuted distal radial fractures of A3、C2and C3type.
