The Comparison Of The Efficacy Between The Locking Compression Plate And Common Plate In The Treatment Of Elder’s Distal Radius Fracture

Objective To compare the efficacy between the Locking Compression Plate and Common Plate in the treatment of elder’s distal radius fracture(AO C3type).Methods From March2007to March2010,44cases of distal radius fractures were treaded with the Locking Compression Plate and Common Plate in Department of Orthopaedics, The Second Xiangya Hospital. Main outcome measurements included the operative time,the blood loss, the healing time of fracture,postoperative complication rate and the Jakim’s Colles fracture evaluation criteria,and compared with two groups of therapeutic efficacy.Result Postoperative follow up was12.6months on average (6to18months). All the patients were healed. The average operation time of the Common Plate group was89.2±14.1min,and the Locking Compression Plate group was82.2±12.5min, there was no significant difference between the two groups. The average blood loss of the Common Plate group was84.3±15.5ml,and the Locking Compression Plate group was52.7±14.9ml, the difference was statistically significant. The average extracellular appear time of the Common Plate group was8.43±1.08w,and the Locking Compression Plate group was6.95±1.20w, the difference was statistically significant.The average fracture line disappear time of the Common Plate group was16.14±1.11w,and the Locking Compression Plate group was13.91±1.39w, the difference was statistically significant. Acording to the Jakim’s Colles fracture evaluation criteria, the Common Plate group score was48.67±16.45, the Locking Compression Plate group score was63.17±15.38,the difference was statistically significant.Conclusion The efficacy of Locking Compression Plate in treatment of the elder’s distal radius fractures is better than the Common Plate.
