Clinical Observation On The Effect Of Bushen Zhuangjin Decoction On Treating Patellofemoral Osteoarthritis, Type Of Deficiency Of Liver And Kidney

Objective:To investigate the curative effect and mechanism of Bushen Zhuangjin decoction through clinical observation on the effect of Bushen Zhuangjin Decoction on treating patellofemoral osteoarthritis and comparison with the control group, in order to provide clinical application with the theoretical basis.Methods:During the period of December of2011to October of2012,60patients whom be diagnosed as patellofemoral osteoarthritis were collected from outpatient department of the PLA No.175hospital. In a prospective manner, they were randomized into a treatment group (washing with Chinese Herbs) and a control group (conventional treatment), each group had30patients respectively, and give the corresponding treatment. Patients in the treatment group took Bushen Zhuangjin decoction to wash their knee since the day began to be diagnosis, while the control group oraled glucosamine hydrochloride capsule combined nimesulide. Two groups of patients were told to reduce uphill walk movement during treatment.4weeks for one period of treatment and follow-up by telephone weekly, two groups were told back to review of MRI4weeks later. And the adverse reaction in the therapy would be asked simultaneously. Finally the data were analysed statistically with the help of the software package of SPSS16.0.Results:(1) For the whole course of treatment, every patient was followed-up. both the therapy group and the control group were significantly lower than before treatment in clinical symptom score (P<0.05); The curative effect of therapy group on clinical symptoms was superior to the control group, the difference has statistical significance (p<0.05);(2) Both the therapy group and the control group were significantly more relief than before treatment in pain. Which the McGee pain scale score were lower down than before treatment (P<0.05); The curative effect of therapy group was superior to the control group on the McGee pain scale score from the second week after treatment, the difference has statistical significance (p<0.05);(3) The patella cartilage change of therapy group and control group was improved than before treatment, the MRI Recht classification was low down, which was statistically significant differences (p<0.05); The MRI Recht classification of patella cartilage on therapy group was better than the classification on control group, the differences were statistical significance (P<0.05);(4) The treatment group was not found obviously adverse reaction for traditional Chinese medicine external cause.Conclusions:(1) The Bushen Zhuangjin Decoction by washing can relieve clinical symptoms of patellofemoral osteoarthritis significantly.(2) The Bushen Zhuangjin Decoction by washing can relieve the pain of patellofemoral osteoarthritis significantly and enduringly.(2) The Bushen Zhuangjin Decoction for external fumigation can obviously repair the role of patella cartilage.
