Objective:By conducting a preliminary investigation of hearing loss among the elderly population in Jiaonan Area in Qingdao, we can draw prevalence, explore the related factors affecting the elderly hearing loss and provide a scientific basis for the large-scale survey in the future of the region and develop control strategies. Methods:A stratified random cluster sampling method to extract1000people over the age of50from Jiaonan rural area in Qingdao, then conducted a cross-sectional survey, obtained a valid sample of778cases, the response rate was77.8%, and356were male, accounting for45.8%,422were women, accounting for54.2%. Used Danish MADSEN ITERA audiometer measured ears’0.5kHz,1kHz,2kHz,4kHz hearing threshold, examined12hours of fasting blood glucose, triglycerides and total cholesterol blood. Taking better hearing ears’0.5kHz,1kHz,2kHz the average as the average hearing threshold,,taking the average hearing threshold of4kHz hearing threshold as the dependent variable respectively, taking social demographic data (age, gender, marital, educational level, occupation, household income, etc.), environmental factors and biochemical parameters (blood glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein) as independent variables, the data were analyzed by using SPSS16.0for t-test, analysis of variance, chi-square test and non-conditional logistic regression analysis. Results:According to the WHO standard, analyzied by the better ear,459people with hearing loss among778people, accounting for59.0%of the surveyed,112people with hearing disability people, accounting for14.4%of the surveyed. Among the347people with mild hearing loss,98people were moderate, followed by10people severe and finally4people very severe. Univariate analysis showed that age, sex, marriage, education level and income situation were related to the average hearing threshold. Age, sex, marriage, education level, smoking, alcohol consumption, cholesterol and triglycerides were related to4kHz hearing threshold. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that male, advanced age, smoking, alcohol consumption, high cholesterol and high triglycerides were the risk factors for hearing loss and high-income was protection factors. Conclusion:Qingdao Jiaonan rural elderly hearing loss and the prevalence of hearing disability related to a variety of factors is more severe. With further study of the mechanism and its relevant factors, the government and society as a whole should attract more attention and investment. Development and implementation of the scientific prevention and rehabilitation programs are very necessary and urgent.
