Objectives: to sort out prescription medicines of nourishing Yin for ExogenousDiseases from cases and herbal medicines in Guide to Clinical Medical Records; toanalyzing Ye Tianshi’s Academic Thinking of Nourishing Yin and Rules of DrugApplication to Exogenous Diseases;to explore Ye’s internal laws of nourishing yinand summarizing his clinical experiences; to find effective directions to clinicaltreatment and herbal prescriptions in order to improve clinical effect of treatingexogenous diseases.Methods: reorganizing the clues of academic thinking of nourishing Yin ofdifferent dynasties and summarizing Ye Tianshi’s academic thinking in Guide toClinical Medical Records by means of literature retrieval, sorting and systematicreview; creating data table of cases and prescriptions for Guide to Clinical MedicalRecords; summarizing Ye Tianshi’s academic thinking in Guide to Clinical MedicalRecords and Rules of Drug Application to Exogenous Diseases in Guide to ClinicalMedical Records on the basis of the table, statistics and analysis.Results:1. It finds2576cases and3137diagnosis in Guide to Clinical MedicalRecords. Among which,526cases belong to exogenous diseases, taking up16.77%ofthe total;311cases are warm syndrome,185cases are damp-heat syndrome,496casesare exogenous febrile syndrome,taking up94.30%of the exogenous diseases. Guideto Clinical Medical Records mainly records warm syndrome, and its chief treatmentrepresents YE’s academic thinking of nourishing Yi.2. It finds311prescriptions of nourishing Yin for warm diseases,171taste of theherbal medicines were used, and2123times. The treatment of warm disease in Guideto Clinical Medical Records attaches important to nourishing Yin.3. It finds exogenous diseases in Guide to Clinical Medical Records areidentified by defensive energy nutrient and blood. Most warm diseases are classified by Wei-phase syndrome and Qi-phase syndrome, then Yin-phase syndrome. And,111cases are Qi-phase syndrome, taking up35.69%,91cases are Wei-phase syndrome,taking up29.26%,75cases are Yin-phase syndrome, taking up24.12%;27cases areXue-phase syndrome, taking up8.68%。Warm syndrome disease is mainly classifiedby Qi-phase syndrome and characterized by impairing body fluid, thus, protectingYin-fluid should be emphasized in their treatment.4. Among the311cases are warm syndrome of Guide to Clinical MedicalRecords,33taste of the herbal medicines of nourishing Yin were used, and598times.5. As for property, taste and meridian tropism, the prescriptions in Guide toClinical Medical Records mainly focus on herbs with sweet-cold, sour-sweet orsalty-cold tastes, which shows the rules of composing prescriptions of nourishing Yinwith sweet-cold herbs, sour-sweet herbs as well as salty-cold herbs.6. As for composing prescriptions and compatibility, prescriptions basicallyconsists of herbs of nourishing Yin, notifying blood, nourishing yin and clearing awayheat. The most commonly used herbs are Radix Rehmanniae.Dwarf lilyturf.RadixGlehniae. Leaf of Henon Bamboo.Figwort Root. Donkey-hide glue. White PaeonyRoot.Fragrant Solomonseal Rhizome,etc. Total33tastes.Conclusions:1. The method of nourishing Yin is one of the major therapeutic approaches inGuide to Clinical Medical Records. The idea of nourishing Yin penetrates thetreatment of exogenous warm diseases.2. It summarizes the methods of treating exogenous diseases and its rules of drugapplication based on the systematic review and analysis of prescription medicines toexogenous diseases in Guide to Clinical Medical Records. Ye’s treatment methodsand drug application reflect clearly the academic thinking with nourishing Yin as thefirst principle. TCM differentiation either on defensive energy nutrient and blood orThree-jiao shows to different extent the ideas of nourishing Yin.3. The prescriptions of nourishing Yin exemplifies the characteristics of usingdrugs based on defensive energy nutrient and blood.6. The characteristics of prescription medicines of nourishing Yin in Guide toClinical Medical Records are using fresh juice of herbs, emphasizing using drugs onThree-jiao and protecting Stomach-qi and Stomach-yin.
