Objective To explore the expression of COX-2, VEGF and INCENP and its clinical significance in non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).Methods The expression of COX-2, VEGF and INCENP in42NHL and20cases of benign lymph node pathological changes were detected by immunohistochemistry. The relationships between COX-2, VEGF and INCENP expression and clinical markers of tumor behavior, which included gender, age, B symptoms, and IPI, PS, LDH, first effect, clinical stage and histopathologic grade were analyzed.Results1.The positive expression rate of COX-2, VEGF, INCENP in RLH was15%,30%,30%respectively, in NHL was45.24%,73.81%,92.86%. There was significant difference in the expression rates of them between NHL and RLH.2.The expression rate of both VEGF and INCENP were positively correlated with that of COX-2in tissues of NHL (χ2=4.63andχ2=3.11respectively, P<0.05). But the expression of VEGF had no association with INCENP (χ2=0.08, P>0.05).3.The expression of COX-2was related with clinical stage and histopathologic grade of NHL (χ2=5.43, P<0.05), but had no association with gender, age, B symptoms, IPI, PS, LDH or first effect(P>0.05).4.The VEGF expression was related with aggression, B symptoms and IPI significantly (χ2=8.979,8.893,6.434, P<0.05), but not with age, gender, clinical stages, PS, LDH or first effect(P>0.05).5.The expression of INCENP was related with aggression significantly (χ2=0.586, P<0.05), but had no association with age, gender, clinical stages, B symptoms, IPI, PS, LDH or first effect(P>0.05).Conclusions1.There were significant differences in the expression of COX-2, VEGF and INCENP protein between NHL and RLH, so to detect the expression of them has clinical value to discriminate the two diseases.2.There were significant differences in the expression of COX-2, VEGF and INCENP protein between indolent lymphoma groups and aggressive lymphoma groups, so to detect the expression of them has clinical value to estimate the malignant degrees of lymphoma.3.There was a significant difference between the positive expression of COX-2and clinic stage. Stage III+IV was higher than stage Ⅰ+Ⅱ, which demonstrates that there was a correlation between COX-2protein expression and stages of NHL. To detect the expression of COX-2could predict the prognosis for the patients with NHL and guide clinical therapy.4.The VEGF expression was related with B symptoms and IPI significantly, and provides proofs to judge the prognosis.5.There was a positive correlation between the expression of COX-2and VEGF protein, between the expression of VEGF and INCENP protein, which indicates that they may play a synergistic role in the occurrence and development of NHL.6.Specific COX-2and INCENP inhibitors may be a novel therapeutic approach for NHL...
