In the twenty-first century, along with the progressive development of society, medicaland health service system of the world is facing the momentous changes such as the dynamicchanges of health care needs and diverse advances of medical equipment technology. As animportant part of medical system, the third-grade class-A general hospital is trying to meetthe changing demand of customers by increasingly compounding its functions of hospitalarchitecture and constantly adjusting its relation of scale ratio among functional divisions. Infact, the investment of hospital architecture is very huge. Therefore, this thesis attempts toexplore and investigate, via the modern third-grade class-A general hospital, in order to gaina comprehensive understanding of how to create a sophisticate scale ratio of functionaldivision which is in perfect accord with characteristics of the times. At the present time, the development of modern third-grade class-A general hospital iscompletely aimless. Although there is a construction boom in hospital architecture, but thecontradictions and problems still exist. Moreover, the theoretical research on relation of scaleratio among functional divisions is nearly blank. This thesis takes the modern third-gradeclass-A general hospital as the research object, and draws support from nine real examples ofthe third-grade class-A general hospital across eastern, western and central area of china. Thepurpose of this thesis is to investigate the scale ratio among functional divisions of modernthird-grade class-A general hospital by using the research methods such as on-the-spotinvestigation, questionnaire survey and expert interview, and combining with the researchapproaches such as summarize analysis, comparative analysis and weighted-averagecalculation of the first-hand information. This study is to summarize the current functional partition scale than the actualdevelopment status of modern third-grade class-A general hospital. Combined with theextensive research data, this study proposed the reasonable and efficient scale ratio amongfunctional divisions of modern third-grade class-A general hospital in line with the nationalconditions, provided the scientific guidance and advice for the hospital building designers.
