Research TargetTaking the current status of developing nursing resources in a certain third-grade class-A hospital as research object, the basic information of all permanent nursing staff between2008and2012as data foundation, the current status, exploring methods and developing benefit were analyzed in order to find problems as well as put forward constructive strategies specially about exploring nursing resources for this hospital.Research ObjectThe current status of developing nursing resources in a certain third-grade class-A hospital.Research MethodThe sociodemographic characteristics, nursing resources structures, current developing status and so on were statistically analyzed via documental analyzing, sample investigating, statistical descriptions, statistical inference and so forth.Research Results:1. The current status of nursing resources in a certain third-grade class-A hospital:including607permanent nurses and507employed nurses, there were1114nurses in total2678staff by the end of2012. Accompanied by increasing total staff in this hospital between2008and2012, the number of nursing staff was elevated year by year; Nevertheless, the elevated ratio of nurses was a little smaller. Now, permanent nurses aging from30to40years old accounted for33.4%of total staff while those younger than40years old were decreasing yearly, which existed significantly statistic defference (P<0.001). Apart from raising education background of nurses, the ratio of male nurses was going up to20%in2012from6.67%in2008. Take those data together, we could draw that in this third-grade class-A hospital the balance of physician and nurses was as far as less than national standards, and, the proportion of beds and nurses, and degree surpassed but were still far from the level of developed areas and countries.2. The research studies showed that the needs of exploring nursing resources were characterized by nursing quantity, quality, subject, hospital and social development and so forth.3. The current status of developing nursing resources in a certain third-grade class-A hospital:(1) Training condition:the number of nurses got certifications was rising by and large especially in2011. Moreover, the chief nurses were up to the highest in2012but the employing rate was fairly lower. Nurses who accepted full-time undergraduate education accounted for a little proportion, and most of them got bachelor’s degree through further education. The lowest education of nurses recruited in this hospital in2008was junior degree, which implied nursing resources were developing toward high education level gradually. Together with remarkably increased pre-job training, daily training and assessment were elevated gradually. However, the outside education chances of physicians were still far more than nurses (P<0.05).(2) The capacity of scientific research:Apart from one provincial class program in2008, there were no scientific research programs in or over provincial level during the5years, contributing to possessing only50,000research funds per year. Moreover, academic papers published in or over provincial level magazines were quiet few, and the number of papers in2010was dramatically reduced because of two senior nurses transferring. Finally, only one book was published publicly during5years, authorized patents were authorized only in2008and2009, and academic conferences were regretfully few.(3) Developing efficiency:As for social service, the total satisfactional degree of patients toward nursing quality was boosting from83%in2008to92.2%in2012, while the dissatisfactional degree reducing from4.3%to0.5%during5years. Furthermore, the satisfactional degree toward nurses’ services, operational skills and nurse-patient communications was increased, but general satisfactional degree and dissatisfactional degree were decreased to some extent. As to economic efficiency, in contrast with fast economic benefit of this hospital, the contribution of nursing resources to economy showed little change during5years, ranging from6.11in2008to6.51in2012per person, which suggested the role of nursing resources on hospital development was mainly social service but not economic benefit.(4) Problems:The nursing resources and investment were still poor, and there was lack of scientificity in staff training, assessing and motivating. Research Conclusions1. There was existing large gap of nursing resources between a certain third-grade class-A hospital and that of developed countries or advanced regions, mainly characterized by insufficient nursing capital, urgently promoted quality, unbalance of physician-nurse proportion and gap-widened patient-nurse ratio.2. The degree of nursing resources development in a certain third-grade class-A hospital was limited, such as giving first place to inner nursing training, statistically difference of outer training between nurses and physicians, insufficient investment of scientific research and social service-leaded exploring efficiency.3. Accompanied by great demand of nursing capital in a certain third-grade class-A hospital, more attention should be paid, a lot invested, and scientific, systematic and effective management mechanism established.Countermeasures and Suggestions1. Pay further attention and pour more nursing resources.2. Increase and optimize the stock and structure of nursing capital.3. To form a scientific system of compotation and motivation.4. Train and explore nurses actively and reasonably.Main InnovationTaking the current status of developing nursing resources in a certain third-grade class-A hospital as research object, the basic information of all permanent nursing staff between2008and2012as data foundation, the current status, exploring methods and developing benefit were analyzed in order to find problems as well as put forward constructive strategies specially about exploring nursing resources for this hospital. There were no related reports up to now.HypothesisWith small samples and limited representative, our research object was too limited in a certain third-grade class-A hospital to refer and spread widely. Therefore, we will take samples from the eastern, middle and western of China to establish developing system of nursing resources which can be applied to promote the development of third-grade class-A hospital of the whole country.
