With the reform of China’s medical and health system, community health service hasbecome an important part in protecting people’s health and safety, which is playing anincreasingly important role in disease prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation. Ascommunity health workers, community nurses not only need to provide professional care,but also be able to adapt to the work model "out of the hospital, into the family", who hasbecome a major force in home visits and health education. Nowadays knowledge systemof community nurses and continuing education is concerned widely. This article is aimedat realizing community nurses continuing education requirements on the basis ofcompetency, in order to provide a reference for the development of the a reasonablescientific community nurses continuing education programs.This study developed Competency-based Community Nurses Continuing EducationRequirements Questionnaire and tested reliability and validity by reviewing Competencyand Community Nurses Continuing Education relevant theories, and using LiteratureAnalysis, Delphi Method and Pre-experimental Test. Carrying out a survey and analyzingresults on continuing education requirements in Nanjing community nurses usinghomemade questionnaire through Questionnaire Method, Stratified Sampling Method.The survey finds that human resource structure of community nurses in Nanjing isreasonable, but gender structure and job title structure needs to be optimized. Continuingeducation curriculum system is highly targeted based on competency design, butcontinuing education needs in community nurses is active. The community nursescontinuing education needs has significantly differences among degrees nurses, adecreasing trend in continuing education requirements with the degrees increments. Thediverse titles community nurses has no significant difference in continuing educationneeds apart from the senior title nurses. The community nurses continuing education needsfrom the rural community health centers are significantly higher than that from urbancommunity health service centers. The key factors affecting education demands are genderand whether to carry out home visits in each latitude, urban and rural differences has ahigh impact factor in other latitudes expecting individual characteristics.
