A Case Analysis On The Social Work Practice Across Rehabilitation Of The Old People With Tristimania

With the coming of aging society, the health and living quality of the old people havebeen the focus of all circles. At the same time, the mental health of the old people havearoused the attention from all circles. Tristimania is the most common mental sicknessamong the elderly and has become seriously social public health problem in today society.The recovery of the elderly patients with tristimania is comprehensive, not only to realizemedical rehabilitation and mental rehabilitation, even more important, to realize socialrehabilitation.On the basis of studying the existing literature, it can be found that there are fewresearches on the involvement of social work in the tristimania rehabilitation, and theresearches on the tristimania rehabilitation of the old people are even less. Most expertsconcentrate on the diagnosis, pathogeny, the clinical characteristics as well as thetreatment and nursing of tristimania of the elderly. The researches on rehabilitation are at amacroscopic level, highlighting the importance of mental rehabilitation, proposing themode and method for social work, while without deepening the analysis of the concreteoperation and effects of direct service on the elderly’s mental rehabilitation. In the field ofmental rehabilitation, the therapies vary from different clients. Likewise, different servicesare provided to the old people with tristimania, according to their respective characteristics.This paper based on XMY who is tristimania patient of Senile Psychosomatic Departmentof Wuhan Mental Health Center, mainly focus on micro-level and use direct service ofsocial work to execute recovery work.The author aims to find the advantages, raise confidence, build normal interpersonalrelationship and at last assist XMY enter into normal social life. Through looking upmedical record, attending observation, interviewing individual cases to analyze reasonsthat influence the recovery of old tristimania patients and combine his direct serviceexperience to work out correspondent schedule. Then according to establish relations,direct service and close case evaluation to show involvement of social work during therecovery of old tristimania patients, and form some practical methods to provide somereferences for old people mental rehabilitation workers, also provide physical basis forgovernment to draw up related rehabilitation policies and measures to old mental patients. It is also suggested in the research that the support from family and friends isessential during the process of tristimania rehabilitation of the elderly. Therefore, greatimportance should be combine social case work with the social family work and socialgroup work. What’s more, for the all-round, multi-angle services, the efforts from family,social work and group work are all need to be adopted to this cause.
