Objective:To investigate the influence of Qiang Xin Kang on the BNP level of CHF patient s and effectiveness of the treatment for CHF;to find out the possible mechanism of Qiang Xi n Kang treatment for CHF;to discuss the value of Qiang Xin Kang in CHF treatment, to provi de new traditional Chinese medicine intervention for CHF treatments. Methods:The study was done on the CHF patients whose BNP level higher than400pg/ml i n plasma. The patients were divided into two groups. The control group was given the conven tional western medicine treatment; the test group was given the western medicine treatments c ombine with Qiang Xin Kang pharmaceutical preparation (3pieces/time,3times/day).Four w eeks after treatment, compared with the NYHA grade, BNP level of the plasma,6minutes’w alking test and color sonography of LVEF, combined with clinical features and discussed th e effect of treatments. Results:According to the grade of NYHA, the plasma BNP level,6minutes’walking test and color sonography of LVEF,the test group was excelled the control group, whi ch had significant difference(P<0.05).The plasma of BNP level was positively correlated w ith the grade of NYHA.1. The general condition of the control group and test group before the treatments (include d a-ge, sex, course of disease, disease), the grade of NYHA, the plasma of BNP leve1,6minutes’walking test and color sonography of LVEF,had no significance differences (P>0.05), the two were comparable.2. After four weeks’treatment, the effective rate of the test group was86.7%, the control gro up was67.7%,P<0.05,which had significance differences.3. After treatment, there was significant difference in the level of plasma BNP betwe en groups (P<0.05); there was also significant difference in the differences value o f level of plasma BNP (P<0.05).4. After treatment, there was significant difference in the distance of6minutes’ walki ng test between two groups (P<0.05); there was also significant difference between two groups in the differences value of6minutes’walking test (P<0.05).5. After treatment, there was significant difference in LVEF between groups (P<0.05); there was also significant difference between two groups in the differences value of LVEF (P<0.05).6. The analysis of correlation indicated, that the included plasma of BNP level was positive c orrelated with the grade of NYHA.Conclusion:Based on the modern medicine standardized treatment, Qiang Xin Kang could ef fectively enhance clinical effect for CHF patients, reducing the BNP concentration in plasm a, increasing the distance of6minutes’ walking and the point of color sonography of LVEF, a nd it improves patients’ life quality. There was no obvious side effect observed.1. Some side effects of Qiang Xin Kang are cardiotonics, pulse rate, activating blood circulat ion and eliminating stasis and detumescence; which fits for the pathogenesis evolution o f heart failure, blood stasis due to resistance and water retention. It embodies the Chines e medicine treatment concept-"treatment aiming".2. Qiang Xin Kang’s clinical application may provide a reliable, simple and economical med icine for CHF, and a new intervention plan of Chinese medicine for the treatment of CHF.
