Abstract:Objective: To observe the implantation of an intraocular lens after3.0mm Manual Small-incision Cataract Surgery(MSCS) or phacoemulsification forcataract extract and compare the two different ways of incision and the visualeffect. Methods: Choose156cases (190eyes) age-related cataract patients, randomly divided into four groups. The MSCS group which was impanted withaspheric intraocular lens called Group A,The MSCS group which was impantedwith spheric intraocular lens called Group D.The other two groups(Group B andGroup C)which were implanted with aspheric intraocular lens and sphericintraocular lens respectively after phacoemulsification. To measure the visual acuityon one day after operation and one week after operation respectively.Three monthafter surgery, the following investigations were performed: assessment of theuncorrected visual acuity, the best corrected visual acuity, spherical aberration ofthe eye, photopic and mesopic contrast sensitivity, the subjective visual functionand quality of life and so on. Comparing the visual acuity, spheric aberration, contrast sensitivity and subjective visual function and quality of life of the twodifferent ways of incision, and comparing the visual acuity, spheric aberration, contrast sensitivity and subjective visual function and quality of life after the sameincision with aspherical intraocular lens or spherical intraocular lens.Result:1.Oneday after operation,Comparing Group A to Group B and Group D to Group C,bothvisual acuity have no statistical significance. But the mean of Group A is greater than Group B,the mean of Group D is greater than Group C,it has clinicalsignificance.2. One week after operation, Comparing Group A to Group B andGroup A to Group D,both visual acuity have no statistical significance.3.After3month,there were no significant difference in the VA between the Group A andGroup B(P>0.05),and no significant difference between Group B and Group C inthe VA (P>0.05).4. After3month,Between the Group A and Group B,there was nosignificant difference in the spherical aberration between the two different ways ofincisions after three month(P>0.05).But between the Group A and Group D andbetween the Group B and Group C,the spherical aberration showed the significantdifference between the aspheric intraocular lens and spheric intraocular lens afterthree month (P<0.05).5. After3month,there was no significant difference in thecontrast sensitivity at all spatial frequencies under photoic conditions and mesopicconditions between the Group A and Group B(P>0.05).But the Group B which wasimplanted with aspheric intraocular lens(KS-3Ai) provided significant bettercontrast sensitivity at all spatial frequencies under photoic conditions and mesopicconditions in comparision with the Group C which was implanted with sphericintraocular lens(KS-X)(P<0.05).6. After3month, Between the Group A andGroup D and between the Group A and Group B,both have no statisticalsignificance in subjective visual acuity and quality of life.Conclusion:1.Comparing the two different ways of operation which are3.0mm MSCS andphacoemulsification, the early stage recovery of visual acuity of the former isbetter than the latter, but has no significance. After MSCS or phacoemulsification for cataract extract, there was no significant difference between the two differentways of incision of the other measurements of this research. It is showed that thetwo kinds of operation methods for cataract both can make useful visual acuityrecover fasty, and have no significant difference between the two different ways ofoperation in the forward effect of visual acuity.3.0mm MSCS provides a relativelynew and safety method of micro-incision sugery for cataract.2.The asphericintraocular lens (KS-3Ai) can decline the spherical aberration and increase thecontrast sensitivity at almost all spatial frequencies under photoic conditions andmesopic conditions than the spheric intraocular lens. Both the aspheric intraocularlens and the spheric intraocular lens can improve visual acuity. It is showed that theaspheric intraocular lens can improve the visual sensitivity effectively, but thesubjective visual quality has no difference to the spheric intraocular lens.
