The theory on low hydraulic resistance(HR) interstitial fluid channel for meridian was put forward by prof. Zhang Weibo which realized that the meridian is a kind of porous channel in interstitium with low hydraulic resistance which allow interstitial fluid, chemicals and physical signal move. For simply, meridian is a low hydraulic resistance channel(LHRC) or an interstitial fluid channel if the function is emphasized or a hydra-channel if the bounding feature is emphasized.LHRC exists in subcutaneous tissue or between the muscles. So the status of muscle should influence the HR. The contraction of muscle may narrow the channel and cause an increase of HR. The unconsciousness, continuous tension of muscle is just the case in routine life of human being which cause meridian stasis and sub-healthy. Studying the relationship between the HR and muscle contraction can prove the conclusion.According to A.J. Levick’s study, HR mainly comes from hyaluronan and other components in interstitum. Hyaluronan is the main substance of high HR. Can hyaluronan influence the HR of LHRC which represents the opening degree of meridian? The study intend to observe the changes of HR when muscle contracting induced by electric stimulation and hyaluronan damaged by injecting hyaluronidise into LHRC to verify the relations between meridian muscle state and hyaluronan in interstitum.Experiment1. The Influence of Muscle Contraction to Hydraulic Resistance of Low Hydraulic Resistance Channel along Meridian Induced by Electrical StimulationObjective:Observe the influence of muscle to meridian channel. Method:The instrument of measuring HR was used to find a low HR point on anaesthesized pigs. Electrical stimulator(IH202H) was used to give various constant electric stimulation to induce muscle contractions and HR was measured before and after the stimulation was given. Results:28points were carried on six Chinese experimental mini-pigs. HR appeared to increase following the increase of electric current companied with more strong contraction of muscle. When the current were1mA and3mA, HR hadn’t significant changes and the muscle hadn’t contracted or just regularly contracted in most cases. When the current arrived at5mA, the changes became significant(P<0.05) and very significant(P<0.01) when the current arrived at7mA and9mA and the muscle contraction become continuous in the most cases. Conclusion:muscle tension can influence the HR of LHRC and obvious increase was happened when the muscle contraction become continuous.Experiment2. The Influence of Hyaluronan to the Hydraulic Resistance of low Hydraulic Resistance Channel along Meridian by Injecting Hyaluronidise Objective:Observing the influence of Hyaluronan to HR. Method:The instrument of measuring HR was used to find a low HR point on anaesthesized pigs. Then hyaluronidise was injected into the point slowly(150Unit/ml). HR was measured immediately after the injection and lmin,3min,5min,10min,20min and30min. Result:, HR was decreased obviously immediately after the injection which nearly reached to significantly changes(P=0.073, n=7).1min after the injection, HR began to recovery but still lower than initial value. At10min HR arrived at same level of initial value, a little higher at20min and returned to initial value at30min. Conclusion:Injecting hyaluronidise can reduce the HR on LHRC. The effect is largest at immediate time of injection which imply a tight relationship between interstitum and the effective time lasted about30min.From above two experiments, muscle tension can enhance the resistance of meridian channel which imply a routine tension of muscle can influence the circulation of qi and blood along meridians. So keeping relax in daily life is important for health. On the other hand, electric stimulation used in clinic shouldn’t be too much in case reduced or opposite effect was gotten. The influence of hyaluronan to HR provides a theoretic support to the usage of injecting hyaluronidise to treat local pain diseases.
