The essence of meridians is an important topic in modem meridian research which no mutual recognition had been achieved until now.Therefore,It had puzzled the modern Chinese medical research to establish a pathological model of channel for a long time.This research tried to study the role which meridian plays in disease's formation and development,and took the Zhang Weibo's hypothesis of low hydraulic resistance channel(LHRC) as the theoretical basis.In this case,a pathological model of obstructed channel was established by injecting polyacnylamide hydrogel or saline, and the change of experimental animal's pain threshold was compared around the injection to test the Chinese medical theory,"when there is stoppage,there is pain" experimentally.The first experiment was preliminary observation on blocking effect to LHRC along meridian by injecting polyacnylamide hydrogel.In the experiment,different dosage of gel(0.25ml,5ml,1ml) was injected into LHRC along meridian. Comparatively injecting saline into the channel and injecting the gel outside the channel were taken as control groups.The effects of blocking LHRC were compared by examining the change of transmission of interstitial fluid pressure wave.The result showed that there was significantly decrease(P<0.01) on interstitial fluid pressure wave when injecting 0.5ml gel and 1ml gel into the channel,while no significantly changes were found when injecting 0.25ml gel,saline and injecting the gel outside the channel.The experiment proved that the LHRC can be blocked by injecting certain amount of polyacnylamide hydrogel and the pathological model of obstructed channel was preliminary established.The second experiment was preliminary observation on the change of pain threshold in pigs when injecting polyacnylamide hydrogel into LHRC along meridian. The change of pain threshold was observed in far-end region along meridian after injecting polyacnylamide hydrogel into LHRC.The similar observation was made when injecting saline into the channel or injecting the gel outside the channel as control groups.Irrelevant region was chosen as contrast region to eliminate the influence of pain threshold from different anaesthesia level in pigs.The pain threshold of experimental region and irrelevant region were measured before and imrnediately after the injection,then two days and four days after the injection.The ratio of experimental threshold and the contrast threshold was calculated to reflect the change of ache sensitive degree at far-end region along meridian.The result showed that there was significantly decrease(P<0.05) of relative pain threshold after the injection,and more significantly decrease after two days and four days(P<0.01),it presented continually the declining trend.There were no significantly changes after injecting saline and injecting the gel outside the channel (P>0.05).But the change of threshold had a tendency of rising first and then fall. The result showed that when the LHRC was blocked,the position along the meridian would become more painful than other region.The old meridian pathological theory was preliminarily verified.The research has successfully established a pathological model of obstructed channel by injecting polyacnylamide hydrogel into the LHRC along the meridian.It had laid the foundation for further study of pathology performance and physiological function of meridians.The change of relative pain threshold after the injection proved that injecting polyacnylamide hydrogel into LHRC could cause the pathological change which is similar to the classical theory of TCM,"when there is stoppage,there is pain".The research has studied the pathological characteristics of meridians and preliminarily demonstrated the scientific nature of the Chinese medicine "when there is stoppage,there is pain" theory at the same time,it also proved that there was a close relation between LHRC and acupuncture meridians in TCM. |
