Effects Of Jiawei Bugan Decoction On Serum VEGF And IGF-1Expression In DPN Patients

Background and Objective:Diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN) is one of the maijor factors of chronic complication and multilation caused by diabetes mellitus.Finding effective medicines for diabetes mellitus is a focus of modern researches.Although there has been great progress in the study of molecule mechanism about polyol pathway、advanced glycation end products、protein kinase C and hexosamie.Clinically effective diabetic peripheral neuropathy treatments remain elusive and ultimately.Strategies must look beyond the single pathway for a more integrative answer to diabetic peripheral neuropathy.To investigate the effects of Jiawei bugan formula on the production of Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and Insulin-like growth factor-1,IGF-1(IGF-1) in diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) patients, in addition to the clinical evaluations.Methods:1Eighty patients with diabetic DPN were randomly allocated into an experimental group and a control one.2Conventional treatment was administrated in both groups. Jiawei Bugan formula was additionally administrated by the patients of experimental group and Vitamin B1together with Vitamin B12by the controlled patients, all monitored in a duration and follow-up of8weeks.3The clinical manifestations were recorded and production of serum VEGF and IGF-1 were tested to determine the difference between the2groups.Result:1The overall effectiveness power of experimental group was significantly greater than that of control (P<0.05).2The serum IGF-1production was enhanced in both groups whereas the experimental had significantly greater increase of IGF-1than the control had. Moreover.3the patients of experimental were tested more decrease of VEGF with significant difference (P<0.05) in sera than the patients of control were tested.Conclusion:The use of Jiawei Bugan formula stimulates the production of IGF-1and on the other hand inhibits the production of VEGF in sera, which may partly explain the preventive and therapeutic effects on patients with peripheral neurophathy induced by T2DM.
