Objective:This study mainly targeted at specialized nursing training for cancer pain among nurses in a tumor hospital, and explored the effect of this kind of training on their knowledge, attitudes and practice concerning cancer pain management, so as to provide the evidences for better specialized nursing training for cancer pain management. Methods:This is a premeasure-postmeasure design experimental study. We trained120nurses in a tumor hospital for a month, and evaluated the nurses’knowledge, attitude and practice changes towards cancer pain management by the same questionnaire before and after the training. All the data are analyzed by SPSS17.0, and the statistical methods include descriptive statistics analysis, chi-square test, Fisher exact test, K-means algorithm, univariable analysis and unconditional logistic regression model. Results:There were120samples, all the nurses accepted the investigation before and after the training, effective response rate was100%. The nurses’awareness rate of cancer pain nursing knowledge are62.4%and92.4%respectively before and after the training, the difference is statistically significant (P=0.000). On training attitude, the proportion of nurses who thought the training is significant improved from91.7%to100%; their confidence of applying the knowledge learned in the training courses into their practical work improved from93.3%before the training to100%after it, both differences are statistically significant. On the nurses’behaviors of cancer pain management,69(57.5%) nurses have ever propagandized and taught cancer patients how to relieve pain before the training, the proportion improved to109(90.8%) after the training;36 (30%) nurses think that they can use their knowledge of cancer pain management to help cancer patients to relief pain before the training, the proportion improved to82(68.3%) after the training, both differences are statistically significant (both P=0.000). The results of influencing factors analysis of nurses’cognitive level about cancer pain management show that nurses’cognition level of cancer pain specialized nursing knowledge is unrelated to department (P=0.106) and position (P=0.061), but related to nurses’age, working years, education background, professional title, pain training experience, whether propagandized and taught cancer patients how to relief pain before, all P values are less than0.01. Multi-variable conditional logistic regression analysis shows that the education degree and if had pain training experience relate to nurses’ cognition level specialized nursing knowledge of cancer pain. Conclusions:After the specialized nursing training for cancer pain management, the nurses’knowledge, attitude and practice to the cancer pain nursing changed dramatically, and their quality and level of nursing in cancer pain management improved dramatically too. This kind of training is of great significance and effectiveness.
