Effects Of Acupoint Catgut-embedding Therapy On Hyperandrogenism And Insulin Resistance Of Obese Patients With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Objective: To discuss the clinical efficacy of acupoint catgut-embedding therapy ofoboese PCOS. To observe the effect on hyperandrogenism and insulin resistance of obesePCOS, and to investigate the therapeutic mechanism.Methods:60cases of obese PCOS were randomly divided into two groups: theacupoint catgut-embedding group and the electro-acupuncture group,30cases in eachgroup. To evaluate patients’ BMI, waistline, hisutism, acne scores, menstrual abnormalities,LH, FSH, LH/FSH, T, FBG, FINS and HOMA-IR before and after3months treatment.Results:1.After3months treatment, BMI, waistline, hisutism and acne scores weresignificantly reduced (P<0.05) in both groups. There was no significant difference betweentwo groups (P>0.05).2.After3months treatment, the menstrual abnormalities, hisutism, acne scores, LH,FSH, LH/FSH, T were significantly reduced (P<0.05) in both groups. There was nosignificant difference between two groups (P>0.05). There was significant difference in Tlevel reduction between two groups (P<0.05).3.FBG, FINS, HOMA-IR were significantly reduced (P<0.05) after3monthstreatment in both group. There was no significant difference between two groups (P>0.05),but there was significant difference in FINS level (P<0.05) between two groups.Conclusions: Acupoint catgut-embedding therapy is one of the effective methods totreat obese PCOS. In clinical practice, acupoint catgut-embedding therapy is convenientoperation, and has a low cost. So it worth widely clinical using.
