Community Health Center provides people with safe, effective, convenient and inexpensive public health and basic medical service.As the director of the center, his or her ability has a significant effect on the quality of service.This thesis focused on the director of the Center and drew on the theory of competence and work performance theory to construct indicators to explore the relationship between management characteristics and work performance,providing certain theoretical foundation and scientific basis for recruitment, selection, evaluation and training of directorof the Center in China.The questionnaire of this study constructed by literature review, job analysis, and consultation with experts was modified by the pre-survey, and then was conducted in96directors of the Centers in Hangzhou. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, exploratory factor analysis, t test, analysis of variance, correlation analysis and multiple linear regression were used for statistical analysis.The results demonstrated that: The Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and KMO value of the questionnaire were respectively0.908and0.849. Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity Sig<0.01,6factors of eigenvalues root greater than1explained the measurement indicators of the overall variance of68.067%.Factor normalized dimension consistenedt with ideas and the questionnaire had acceptable reliability and validity. Differences in Decision-making ability and task performance in gender were statistically significant. Differences in communication skills, the development of subordinate relationship management performance in Regional were statistically significant. Differences in work performance in professional were statistically significant.The study found that management characteristics of director of the Center consisted of communication skills, decision-making ability, problem-solving ability and development of subordinates.Work performance was constituted of relationship management and task performance. Management features had a positive impact on work performance. Problem-solving ability and development of subordinates had a positive direct effect on relationship performance.Communication skills, decision-making and problem-solving ability had a positive direct effect on task performance.
