ObjectiveTo explore the efficacy of the treatments in geriatric intertrochanteric fractures. Geriatric intertrochanteric fracture is one of the common hip fractures. The Incidence has increased with the improvement of daily life, ageing populations and the deteriorated osteoporotic problem. Once it happens, the QOL (quality of life)of the patients will be affected severely, along with the heavy psychological burden. Therefore, a positive and effective treatment is particularly important. This study is attempting to investigate the Hip Score and the integrated curative effect in patients, and provide reliable Reference for the clinical management of intertrochanteric fractures, on the basis of clinical application of PFNA internal fixation combined with traditional Chinese medicine for the geriatric intertrochanteric fractures.MethodsThe research objects are80elderly hospitalized patients with intertrochanteric fracture (from Aug.2010to Jun.2011, Orthopaedic Hospital of Wuhan City). According to the time sequence, all patients were randomly divided into a trial group and a control group,40cases each group. The control group was managed with PFNA internal f ixat ion, while the trial group with PFNA internal fixation combined with Chinese medicine Strong tendons continued bone Dan after two weeks (Period of treatment:4-6weeks).80cases of patients with internal fixation are the subject of Wuhan City Orthopaedic Hospital Bone to complete the same operation group. The patients were followed up for3months. Two groups were compared fracture healing time, respectively, after surgery in January, February, March, two groups of patients with hip joint function to make a score compared to analyze the efficacy of oral pills. The statistical data was processed with SPSS17.0(a statistical software). Groups were analyzed using two independent sample t-test, and the quantitative data was presented with mean and standard deviation.Results1.Fracture clinical healing time comparison:the trial group fracture healing time was54.64±2.098d, while the control group was63.86±2.197d, the difference was statistically significant (P=0.000).2. The Harris Score comparison:After1month fol low-up of non-pill taking group joint function scores after treatment for47.60±1.09, pill taking group joint score after treatment was50.17±1.32, a pill to take the group to fracture healing time than non-pill taking group, the difference was statistically significance.(P=0.000). After2months follow-up of non-pill taking group joint function scores after treatment for77.63±2.46, pill taking group joint score after treatment was81.33±1.25, a pill to take the group to fracture healing time than non-pill taking group, the difference was statistically significance.(P=0.000).After3months follow-up of non-pill taking group joint function scores after treatment for83.03±1.11, pill taking group joint score after treatment was86.06±1.13, a pill to take the group to fracture healing time than non-pill taking group, the difference was statistically significance.(P=0.000).ConclusionPFNA added after internal fixation of service better efficacy Strong tendon continued bone Dan, can promote fracture healing, shorten time to fracture healing, and significantly improved the recovery of joint function and improve the quality of life of patients, which was based on the theory of TCM and integrated with the tongue and pulse signs, can Comprehensively improve the patients’physical condition. This method of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine, complements mutual advantages, and is worth popularization and clinical application.
