Objective:to observe the clinical effect on combined treatment of thalami c pain using Supplemented Generalized Pain Stasis-Expelling Decoction and Carbamazepine.Method:sixty five patients suffered from thalamic pain were divided into treatment group and control group at random. The treatment group, including33patients, was cured with Supplemented Generalized Pain Stasis-Expelling Decoction and Carbamazepine. The control group, including32patients, was cured with Carbamazepine. And the effect of the both treatments was evaluated with Visual Analogue Score (VAS) and clinical curing rate.Resultes:The combined treatment group and the control group both performed with great varieties after the treatment. The VAS value of the combined-treatment group was7.31±1.21&3.05±0.84before and after the treatment. The T test showed P was smaller than0.01(P<0.01). There was also significantly different in the control group (7.24±1.10&4.73±1.33). The T test showed P was smaller than0.05(P<0.05). When two groups were compared after the treatment, the T test showed P was smaller than0.05(P<0.05). In the meanwhile, the combined treatment group cured24patients and the control group cured20patients, the clinical curing rate of the combined treatment group was72.73%, and the clinical curing rate of the control group was62.50%. The difference of the both group is statistically significant (R=0.67, P<0.05)Conclusion:The curative effect of combined treatment with Generalized Pain Stasis-Expelling Decoction and Carbamazepine was excellent to Carbamazepine single used.
