The Construction Status Of Three A Grade Hospitals’ Portal In Jiangsu Province

ObjectiveHigh-level portals of Grade3A hospitals need to established to meet theincreasing patient demand under the high-developer Internet.Achieved remakableresults in the national health and medical system reform, as the backbone of Jiangsumedical industry, Grade3A hospitals. This project aims to summarize the currentsituation, advantage and disadvantage of Grade3A hospital portals in JiangsuProvince through theoretical study and spot survey, with emphasis of portals’ concept,purpose, necessity, situation and other aspects; to explore the future direction andmode of Grade3A hospital portals construction with Combining with theunderstanding and views from both the doctors and the patients; and to providesuggestion to improve hospital patient portals service under National Health CareSystem Reform.MethodsPortal building, hospital advocacy, patients service of all50Grade3A hospitals’portals in Jiangsu Province were searched through search engines and statisticallysummarized. These hospitals included20Generalized Hospitals,11TraditionalChinese Medicine Hospitals,2Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine IntegratedHospitals, and17Specialized Hospitals.A questionnaire survey was conducted randomly to clinicians and patients from six Grade3A hospitals in Nanjing. Questionnaires for medical staff and patients weredesigned respectively, with the majority close-ended questions and some open-endedquestions. Inspectors were trained before the survey to uniform the survey standards.respondents fill in and recycling on the spot.Results and conclusions1. Portal frame building rate of Grade3A hospitals in Jiangsu Province wass100%. These portals were generally characterized by rich contents, simple pages, andpractical functions. The most practical, health common sense education, doctor guide,location and traffic information column were highest settde, with the rate ofrespectively92%, and88%,86%. Meanwhile, the columns of E-commerce pplication,Department portals, Information query, Doctor and patient communication andinteraction did not take high rate. In conclusion, Grade3A hospital portals in JiangsuProvince had been translated from the information stage to the interactive stage;translation towards E-commerce stage should be pursued at the moment。2. The construction of online reservation and registration system in JiangsuProvince showed a high level, with this service provided in84%of surveyedhospitals. Unified registration system of the municipal level had been established inmany cities.. The provincial system is under construction,. Despite it had not beenuniversally used, the convenience had been recognized by a majority of patients, withhalf of them expressed their willing to try.3．96.73%of672surveyed medical staffs concerned hospital portals,95.7%of them believed that hospital portal was important. They carried optimistic attitudestowards and were willing to try various communication ways with the patients on theInternet. Medical staffs, including managers, doctors, nurses, and other healthworkers, expressed that their time and effort can be saved if the hospital portals couldimprove doctor-patient communication, prevent unnecessary disputes, simplize the treatment procedures. Meanwhile,68.6%of them did not think the hospital managershad attached enough importance to the hospital portal construction.4． Currently, the main way of hospital information acquisition is throughpatients’ acquaintances, with account to72.38%of the people surveyed.42.84%ofthose confirmed that network query was an important way to get information, andthey confirmed the importance of hospital portal to simplify the procedure of medicaltreatment.46.1%of those surveyed expressed hospital portals need be improved tomeet their needs. However, despite the willing and demanding of patients tocommunicate and contact with hospitals, the timeliness and quality of onlineinteractive communication replies cannot be guaranteed due to the heavy work ofhospital medical staffs, as a result, more patients chose to go to the hospital to haveface-to-face communication with medical staffs.RecommendationHospitals should make full use of the positive support from both medical staffsand patients on the hospital portal construction, and take a, further implement andstrengthening of hospital managers’ concern and support on the hospital portalconstruction. Patient-centered and personalized service should be provided. Theportal language versions should be enriched to promote the internationalcommunication. In conjunction with the informatization construction, richconnotation information sharing and query functionality; Should try to portaldevelopment of E-commerce functionality. Use of portals to online communicationbetween doctor and patient, the hospital Web site become an important form ofhospital services, enhancing communication between doctor and patientunderstanding of bridge.Portal evaluation targets of development levels hospital should be developed byhealth administrative departments, with regard to local hospitals development level and patients’ needs, to urge the attention of hospital administrators to, and togradually improve the hospital portal construction.
