Objective:To compare the clinical therapeutic effects on acute gouty arthritis between acupotomologic therapy combined with cupping method and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug, and to investigate the curative effects and analysis the mechanism of the combined therapy, and to provide proper, suitable and effective method and comprehensive clinical basis for further development of the treatment of acute gouty arthritis.Method:Sixty cases of acute gouty arthritis from the orthopedics clinic and ward of the first affiliated hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine between March2010and December2011were randomly divided into an treatment group and a comparison group,30cases for each. The cases in treatment group were treated with acupotomologic therapy combined with cupping method. The cases in comparison group were treated with nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug. Both of the cases in the two groups were treated under alimentary control. Seven days of treatment made one session. Results after treatment were evaluated of points in joint pain, swelling degree, ROM(range of motion) and serum uric acid level. Statistics and analysis was done using SPSS16.0statistical software.Results:1. Total effective rate:After treatment the total effective rate of treatment group was93.33%and70%in the comparison group. Treatment group is better than comparison group (P<0.05).2. After treatment, the significantly difference of the points was found between treatment group and comparison group in joint pain, swelling degree and joint range of movement (P<0.05).3. Adverse reaction:there is no severe reaction during the observation in both groups. In the treatment group, only one patient was fainting during the treatment and getting better after rest. While in the comparison group, two patients felt loss of appetite, nausea, fullness in upper abdomen, both of them felt better in a few days without further treatment.Conclusion:1. After the alimentary control, both acupotomologic therapy combined with cupping method and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug could improve patients’ symptoms.2. Acupotomologic therapy combined with cupping method can significantly reduce the joint pain. After the treatment, the total effective rate of the treatment group is better than comparison group.3. There is no adverse reaction in treatment group beside individually psychological intolerance. Compare with the nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug, cupotomologic therapy combined with cupping method is more convenient, economical, practical and effective.
