Objective:To research the therapeutic effect of different dosages of vitamin E in prevention of anemia in premature children.Methods:Investigating60cases of premature children admitted to the NICU ward of our hospital from October2009to October2011. According to hospital successively order were randomly divided into Group A, B, and C. Group A is the control group:20cases, The conventional premature infant powdered milk feeds and the partial vein nutrition support treatment. On the basis of the above-mentioned control treatment, Oral administration of different doses of vitamin E from the third days after admission is the treatment group, for4weeks. Group B is the low-dose group:20cases, the vitamin E5mg/kg. qd;group C is the high-dose group:20cases, vitamin E30mg/kg. qd. The changes of each group during the treatment in red blood cell(RBC), hemoglobin(Hb), hematocrit(Hct), reticulocyte (Ret) and the changes of serum concentrations of vitamin E before and after treatment were observed. Results:Red blood cells(RBC), hemoglobin(Hb), hematocrit (Hct), reticulocyte(Ret) of group B、group C patients are both improved. The improvement of the indicators are better than group A (P<0.05). There is no significant difference between the improvement of each index of group B and group C(P>0.05). Serum concentrations of vitamin E after treatment in group B and group C patients are significantly higher and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Serum concentration of vitamin E in group A decreased significantly.Conclusion:1. Premature infant should start taking VitE from the3day after birth, The recommended dosage of VitE is5mg/kg. qd and the dosage is the best medication dosage.2. Adopting the above dosage of VitE can reduce the occurrence of anemia in premature children and reduce the frequency of blood transfusion.3. Adopting the above dosage of VitE, monitoring the concentration of VitE in the blood is safety, according with physiological requirements and adverse reactions is not found in clinically.
