Health-Related Quality Of Life And Its Determinant Among The Kam Elderly In The Rural Area Of Huhuai City

ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to measure health-related quality of life of theKam elderly in the rural area of Huai hua city and to identify its some determinantfactors. Provide the basis for the promotion of quality of life in national regionalelderly and promote the development of healthy aging.MethodsA Cross-sectional study of1800Kam elderly aged60years old and above livedin rural area were investigated randomly by using multiple-stage sampling method inHuai hua city. Data from the questionnaire were recorded and analyzed using SPSS17.0.Descriptive statistics were calculated for all variables. The results of therespondents were described as means and standard deviations. The differences inmean scores with regard to aspects of QOL were tested by T test and analysis ofvariance, multivariate of stepwise regression were applied to analyze the factorsinfluence on QOL of Kam elderly people in rural.ResultsThe mean score of the quality of life for the Kam elderly was (59.24±12.31)and GH was the lowest.Scores of quality of life in rural Kam elderly in male were higher than femaleexceptBP, SF and were lower than female in RP. The score decrease with ageincrease and increase with economic increase, higher education was associated withbetter quality of life in all aspects of the SF-36, there were significant differences(P＜0.05), scores of QOL of Kam elderly in rural areas with chronic diseases in allaspects were higher than those of no-chronic diseases, there were significantdifferences(P＜0.05). Very good scores were performed in elderly with spousecompared with no spouse including single, divorced, widowed. There were significant differences between people who take part in activities and not in scores ofVT, SF, RE MH (P＜0.05).The Kam elderly living with their sons(daughters) andgrandchildren had a higher average in all QOL scales compared to other living status,scores of QOL of elderly with family harmony were higher than family notharmonious except BP,GH,RE, there were significant differences(P＜0.05).The result showed that chronic diseases, age, family harmony, economic status,etal have influenced on QOL of Kam elderly in the rural area of Huai hua city.Conclusion1. The score of QOL of the Kam elderly decrease with age increase.2. The score of QOL of the Kam elderly increase with high income.3. Chronic diseases, age, family harmony, economic status, etal haveinfluenced on QOL of Kam elderly in the rural area of Huai hua city. Chronicdiseases has most influenced on it.
