Objective To detect the level of serum and ascites1ipopolysaccharidebinding protein(LBP) in cirrhotic patients, To investigate the diagnosticvalue of LBP in serum and ascites for SBP.Methods Cirrhotic cases were divided into SBP group, asciteswithout SBP group, no ascites group and control groups(Intraperitoneal pusgroup and healthy control group). The LBP levels in serum and ascites weredetermined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).The ascitesroutine, ascites culture, SAAG, blood routine, liver functions andcoagulogram were all taken in the second affiliated hospital of Chongqingmedical university. Results The levels of serum and pus LBP in intraperitoneal pusgroup were higher than those of serum and ascites LBP in ascites groupwith cirrhosis(P<0.001). The level of serum LBP in cirrhosis complicatedwith SBP group was higher than that in ascites without SBP group and noascites group (P<0.01).In SBP group with clinical diagnosis ofsuspected, the levels of LBP in serum and ascites were higher than those in ascites without SBP group (P<0.05).The sensitivity of serum LBP washigher than that of ascites LBP and ascites white blood cell count. Conclusions Further confirmed that the gram negative bacteriainfection in the intra-abdominal cavity can make the patient’s serum andbody fluid LBP levels significantly increased. The serum LBP level incirrhosis complicated with SBP was higher than that in cirrhosiscomplicated with ascites without infection and no ascites. The serum andascites LBP levels in SBP with clinical diagnosis of suspected weresignificantly elevated. Serum LBP combines ascites LBP will moreaccurately reflect the intra-abdominal infections, The detection of LBP inserum and ascites has good value to the diagnosis of SBP.
