Disscution On The Willingness For Accepting Male Circumcision And The Change Of Sex Hormone Of Male Drug Addicts In Chongqing

THE FIRST PART: WILLINGNESS FORACCEPTING MALE CIRCUMCISION IN DRUGADDICTS IN CHONGQINGObjective: To understand the situation and the impact factors onwillingness for accepting male circumcision in male drug addicts inChongqing，and provide basis for the establishment of good extensionmodel of male circumcision.Methods: A research was conducted in three MMT clinics. Bothquantitative and qualitative studies were used to investigate the willingnessfor accepting male circumcision in male drug addicts on MMT.Quantitative study: purposive sampling method used in the study,408patients in Jiulongpo,Yuzhong, Yubei MMT clinics. These questionnairesdata were entered into database of Epi-data3.1software, and SPSS18.0wasused to analyze the data.Qualitative interview: In-depth interviews were held in50patients inJiulongpo,Yuzhong, Yubei MMT clinics. MAXqda10.0and the frameworkmethod were used to analyze qualitative data. Results: In the quantitative research study, the socio-demographiccharacteristics，drug use history and sexual behavior were described，theresults of which were similar with other investigations made among MMTpatients. The univariate analysis showed that there were significantdifference(P<0.05) between those who accept male circumcision and thosewho not in redundant prepuce，the number of reasons for operation，knowing its complications，friends with. Logistic multivariate analysis alsofound difference between the two groups in redundant prepuce andunknowing complication. In the qualitative research it was showed thatredundant prepuce and Protection from HIV were Facilitators of malecircumcision Acceptability. Besides, old age,low frequency of sexualbehaviour and hospital cost were the Barriers to the Acceptability of malecircumcision.Conclusion: Redundant prepuce might be the impact factors forunwilling to accept male circumcision. We should establish ways topublicize and extend male circumcision according to the characters of drugaddicts and the impact factors hindering male circumcision. THE SECOND PART: DISCUSSION FOR THECHANGE OF Male SEX HORMONE IN DRUGADDICTS IN CHONGQINGObjective: To discuss the change of male sex hormone in male drug addicts in Chongqing,and provide basis for improving of the quality of life.Methods: Serum Testosterone, serum Luteinizing Hormone andserum Prolactin were assayed using an automated chemiluminescenceassay system in three group, which were the MMT group, heroin addictsgroup and normal control group, and then analyzed the difference amongthe three groups.Results: The group maintained on Methadone and the new patientgroup had significantly higher mean PRL levels comparing with the normalcontrol group. The proportion of low serum T in new patient group ishigher than the other two groups. Their testosterone levels and LH did notdiffer significantly from the mean testosterone level and LH of the normalcontrols. In the MMT group, methadone dose they taken and theirtestosterone were not correlated.Conclusion: The male drug addicts can improve the level of sexhormones appropriately after taking methadone.
