The formation and development of Traditional Chinese Medicine profoundly effected by the contemporary philosophical thought, thus forming a theoretics of " the homogeneity of medicine and changes". As a branch of the changing thinking, the"Sensation and Response" thinking developed and improved the Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and penetrated into various aspects of the TCM to guide clinical treatment.Purpose:Based on the collation of relevant data through the ancient literature related to the "Sensation and Response" Theory, in order to make clear the essence and connotation of "Sensation and Response" Theory, in depth exploring its impact to the basic theory and reasoning method of TCM, also exploring its guidance meaning to the picking and processing of traditional Chinese medicinal materials,and to the TCM etiology and pathogenesis,diagnosis, clinical treatment, preventive health.Material and method:With the help of’Shuowen Jiezi"and other dictionaries to clear the"sensation and response"theory connotation,quoting the "Yi Jing","Shang Shu"and other ancient literature to explore the effect of "sensation and response"act on the basic theory of TCM. Combining ancient famous medical writings and the medical literature researches in recent years, using literature Study, logical analysis, synchronic comparison methods,to comprehensively collate the collected data. exploring the specific clinical applications of the same theory.Results:1. The "sensation and response"theory has its own unique philosophical connotation.2. Under the specific theoretical basis, the "sensation and response"theory has been used in TCM.3. The "sensation and response"theory deeply affects the development of TCM basic theory and guides the clinical application of TCM.Conclusion:Through cleaning up and investigating the theory of" sensation and response",clearing its distinctive philosophical connotation, determining its role in guiding the basic theory of TCM and TCM clinical treatment. It also clearly pointed out that since the ambiguity of the theory itself caused the narrowness effects on TCM. So this not only helps us to further understanding the theory of "sensation and response", providing the basis for the scientific development of this theory, and it also providing the scientific and rigorous logic instruction for the in-depth application in TCM.
