A Clinical Research Of Treating Peripheral Facial Paralysis With Electronic-acupuncture Combine Warming-acupuncture

ObjectiveThe purpose of this research is:First, to examine the clinical experiment of Electronic-acupuncture combine Warming-acupuncture (ECW) through Peripheral Facial Paralysis patient.Second, to compare the curative power of ECW and EA on PFP patients. In turn, to provide valuable research outcome and confident clinical basis in order to promote and extend acupuncture treatment (acupuncture&moxibustion therapy) widely.Methods60cases of acute PFP patient were sorted out from Jiangsu province hospital of TCM Acupuncture rehabilitation outpatient service, based on the11th edition of the <Practical Science> of peripheral facial paralysis. Afterwards, they were divided into2groups by simple random number table, ECW (treatment group) and EA (control group);30cases each. The two groups were compared after treatments were provided for6consecutive days each week; for each, two treatment cycle provided. Observation index was recorded after each treatment cycle was finished. Afterwards, treatment efficacy of the two groups was statistically compared.Results1. Two groups have definite curative power for PFP. After the treatment provided, facial nerve function improved significantly (P<0.05) in both groups.2. The treatment group’s (ECW) superiority over the control group (EA) in the improvement of facial nerve function was found by analyzing the curative influence of the two groups statistically.3. To compare the composition of the curative power of the two groups, more than half were fully recovered in the treatment group (ECW), while the control group’s (EA) composition were mostly concentrated in between ’noticeable recovery’ and ’improved’, showing remarkable difference.4. After2weeks, since the therapeutical method of each group, treatment group (ECW) and control group (EA), had been fully implemented to the patients within the relevant group, curative power started to appear in both groups (P=0.000, P=0.000); consequently, both turned out to be effective. However, by comparing the statistical data of the curative power,2weeks and4weeks after the treatment was implemented, the superiority of ECW over EA has been observed; the treatment group (ECW) managed to mark a higher score compared to the control group (EA).ConclusionECW treatment method has a marked effect than EA.
