| [Objective] Observation of the clinical efficacy of the acupuncture treatment of metabolic syndrome of the pattern of spleen vacuity with phlegm-damp and to explore some of its mechanism of action.[Methods]Adopoted a prospective, randomized, controlled trial methodolog-y, the60patients were randomly divided into treatment group of30patients and control group of30patients. The control group was based on conventional treatment. The treatment group added acupuncture treatment based on the interventions of the control group. The course of treatment was two, each course was fourteen days. Compared with the TCM clinical symptom score, waist circumference, weight, blood pressure, serum glucose (fasting), triglycerides, high density lipoprotein, adiponectin, visfatin, safety indicators and so on before and after treatment of all patients.[Results]After treatment, There was statistically significant difference with respect to improving clinical symptom score of two groups(P<0.05). As for the control group, clinical symptom score decreased more significantly than the treatment group(P<0.05). Compare with before treatment, the waist circumference, body weight were all decreased in two groups after treatment(P<0.01or P<0.05), but the treatment group was superior to the control group respect to the extent of decreasing (P<0.01).There were statistically significant difference in control group respect to SBPã€DBP, TG (P<0.05). There were statistically significant difference in treatment group respect to SBPã€DBPã€TGã€HDL-C and FPG (P<0.05). The treatment group was superior to the control group respect to decreasing the level of SBP〠DBP and increasing the level of HDL-C (P<0.05). After treatment, there was statistically significant difference with respect to decreasing the level of adiponectin and visfatin in two groups(P<0.01),but the treatment group was superior to the control group respect to the extent of decreasing (f<0.05) All patients adhered to the treatment. As for treatment group,2patients who had mild stomach discomfort spontaneously remissed without special treatment. The control group did not appear abnormal reaction.[Conclusion] Acupuncture treatment can effectively improve clinical symptoms and signs of metabolic syndrome of the pattern of spleen vacuity with phlegm-damp, regulate the disorders of glycolipid metabolism, significantly correct visfatin resistance, increase adiponectin levels, interfere with cytokine function, which may be the one of the mechanisms of acupuncture treatment of metabolic syndrome.TCM in the treatment of metabolic syndrome, acupuncture can be used as an effective and safe treatment option. |
