ObjectivesTo evaluate of clinical efficacy of cervical spondylosis and neck pain with acupuncture treatment based on the theory of heart and gall bladder from TCM concept in order to explore an sustained and effective method of treatment.MethodsA randomized controlled trail of clinical research was conducted,67patients who met the inclusion criteria of neck pain were recruited. They are divided into two groups namely treatment group and control group,33cases in treatment group, while34cases in control group. Both group was treated with acupuncture binding moxibustion and intradermal needle. For the treatment group, acupoint selection:1. acupuncture:PC6、GB34(alternately used), cervical EX-B2(2pairs of acupoints above and below the positive reaction level of the cervical vertebrathe);2. Moxibustion:BL15、BL19;3. intradermal needle:BL15、 BL19(alternately used). For the control group, acupoint selection:1. acupuncture:SJ3, cervical EX-B2(2pairs);2. Moxibustion:cervical EX-B2(2pairs);3. intradermal needle:cervical EX-B2(alternately used). The treatment was totally10times for one course and must be completed within four weeks. There were at least two days between every two treatment. The curative effect was evaluated by the Northwick Park neckpain scale (NPQ) and McGill scale before the course, after the fifth treatment, at the end of the course, one month after the course. Side effect and adverse reaction were ready to write down at any time during the research. Using statistical software SPSS16.0on statistical analysis of data collected. Result1. There is no significant statistical difference between the efficacy measures of the both groups which include NPQ and McGill Pain Questionnaire (P>0.05) and the general baseline of the patients from both groups before treatment which includes gender, age, disease duration, diagnosis and TCM syndrome type, showing a balance of baseline characteristics of the two groups and therefore they are comparable.2. By doing the paired t test, the scores of NPQ and MPQ decrease both during the treatment and one month after the treatment, the scores of NPQ and MPQ are highly statistically significant(P<0.01), showing both methods are effective for treatment neck pain.3. By doing the independent sample t test and comparing the two groups at the same observation time point, no statistically significant is found in NPQ scores of the5th treatment (P>0.05), while the difference is statistically significant at the end of treatment and follow-up a month (P<0.05). There is statistically significant difference of comparison of MPQ scores one month after the treatment (P<0.05).4. By doing the chi-square test of the clinical effective rate, no significant difference is found at the end of treatment (short-time)(P>0.05), but at the follow-up a month is found difference (P<0.05), suggest there is no obvious difference between the tow groups at the short-time efficacy, while for the long-time dfficacy, treatment group is superior to control group.Conclusio1.The methods of the trearment group and control group are both effective for treating neck pain;2. By compairing the short-time efficacy, there is no obvious difference between the tow groups, while for the long-time dfficacy, treatment group is superior to control group.
