| ObjectiveTo observe the effectiveness and the law of the acupoints thermal moxibustion in treating facial paralysis, which provide the basis for that acupoints thermal moxibustion can stimulate channel transmission.MethodsSixty cases of facial paralysis were chosen, and divided into therapy group (n=31) and control group (n=29). Patients of therapy group were treated with acupuncture. Patients of control group were treated with acupuncture and thermal moxibustion, the area of which was the contralateral channel from Hegu (LI3) to Quchi (LI11). The treatment in both groups was once a day and3times a week, one course of treatment would last one week. Refer to the5th International Facial Neurosurgery Symposium recommended House-Brackmann(H-B) facial nerve grading scale to process differing levels of severity. After four treatments, to observe the effectiveness and the law of acupoints thermal moxibustion by comparing the effect of these two groups, and compare the rate of thermal points on the segment from Hegu (LI3) to Quchi (LI11) of Hand-Yangming.ResultFirstly, general information on pre-treatment compared to two groups of gender, age, affected side and House-Brackmann score compared (P>0.05), difference was not statistically significant.Secondly, after4courses of treatment, the House-Brackmann score of two groups was statistically different. The effect of therapy group was better than control group. The total efficiency of therapy group was89.66%, and the total efficiency of control group was96.77%. By the Wilcoxon rank sum test, the result was P=0.049<0.05, shows that difference between control group and therapy group was statistically significant.Tiredly, the therapy group entered the final statistics stage, the top three sensitive points on the location of Hand Yangming were Shousanli, Quchi and Hegu. There appeared a sense of diathermy.Points occurring a sense of diathermy included Shousanli and Quchi. The point Hegu occurred a sensation of soreness. When Doing thermal moxibustion to Shousanli, channel transmission could be stimulated.GonelusionDoing acupoints thermal moxibustion to the distal points of Hand-Yangming for treating facial paralysis is effective. This method is easy to operate. In order to promote acupoints thermal moxibustion, we can teach patients the specification and cautions. The top three sensitive points of the segment from Hegu to Quchi are mean to Shousanli, Quchi and Hegu. Otherwise, the point Shousanli was easy to be stimulated channel transmission, which Provide clinical evidence for channel transmission. |
