Brain metastatic tumor (also known as intracranial metastatic tumors) isdefined that primary tumor cells from other parts of the body are transferred tointracranial. The way of the tumor into the cranial is blood transfer, which canbe single, and also can be multiple. It is considered both home and abroad thatthe most common brain metastasis is from lung cancer, the followed ismelanoma tumors, gastrointestinal tumors, and genitourinarial tumors. Also, aconsiderable part of patients can not find the primary tumor, even if the brainmetastases do exsis, still we can not determine the tumor source after surgery. As the disease progresses, can cause brain parenchymal dysfunction, limbmovement disorder and epilepsy, cancer, stroke condition suddenly worsened, and seriously affect the quality of life, increasing social burden, early diagnosisand early clinical intervention can prevent or delay disease progression. As thedisease progresses, it can cause brain parenchymal dysfunction, limbmovement disorder and epilepsy. When cancer stroke happens, the conditionwill be suddenly worsened, and seriously affect the quality of life, increasesocial burden. Therefore, early diagnosis and early clinical intervention canprevent or delay disease progression. Objective:With the the popularity and image technology of3.0T MRIcontinues to evolve, new MRI scan sequences emerge, that is,CUBE T1WI andCUBE T2FLAIR.By comparison of enhanced T1FLAIR, CUBE T1WI andCUBE T2FLAIR in the detection rate and show degree of brain metastatictumors, we aim to find the best imaging method for patients with brainmetastases, so that we can provide accurate and a wealth of imaginginformation for clinical early diagnosis, correct assessment of the patient’s condition and reasonable treatment plan. Methods: This study selected16patients with suspicious diagnosis ofbrain metastases in our hospital from september,2011to March,2012.Allpatients underwent enhanced T1FLAIR, CUBE T1WI and CUBE T2FLAIRon the basis of conventional MRI scan.We analysis different imagingtechniques for the detection rate and display of brain metastases, and exploreapplication value of the new sequence in the diagnosis of brain metastatictumors. All the data are dealed with SPSS18.0microsoft ware. Results: Of all16cases, enhanced T1FLAIR found a total of127lesions,enhanced CUBE T1WI a total of159lesions, and enhanced CUBE T2FLAIRfound a total of142lesions. They both can find130lesions, and all the lesionsare171as a whole. We useχ2test among the three and enhanced CUBE T1WIand enhanced CUBE T2FLAIR applied together on the detection of brainmetastatic tumors. The statistic results show that there are all significantdiffereces between enhanced T1FLAIR and enhanced CUBE T1W(Iχ2=33.19,P<0.05), enhanced CUBE T1WI and enhanced CUBE T2FLAIR(χ2=7.05,P<0.05), enhanced T1FLAIR and enhanced CUBE T1WI and enhancedCUBE T2FLAIR applied togethe(rχ2=41.00,P<0.05),enhanced CUBE T1WIand enhanced CUBE T1WI and enhanced CUBE T2FLAIR applied together(χ2=4.27,P<0.05),enhanced CUBE T2FLAIR and enhanced CUBE T1WIand enhanced CUBE T2FLAIR applied together(χ2=24.04,P<0.05). We uset test between enhanced CUBE T1WI and enhanced CUBE T2FLAIR on thecontrast ratio (CR) and contrast noise ratio (CNR) of tumor/background.Thestatistic results show that the there are significant differences on CR oftumor/white matter (t=-9.311,P<0.01),tumor/grey matter(t=-2.877,P<0.01),and CNR of between tumor/white matter(t=3.579,P<0.01),tumor/grey matter(t=5.795,P<0.01), which shows that the CR of tumor/gray matter, tumor/white matter are higher in enhanced CUBE T2FLAIR sequence, while the CNR of the tumor/gray matter, tumor/white matterare higher in enhanced CUBE T1WI sequence. Conclusion: Compared with enhanced T1FLAIR, CUBE T1WI andCUBE T2FLAIR sequences on the detection rate and display degree of brainmetastatic tumors. The results show that: there are significance differencesbetween enhanced T1FLAIR and CUBE T1,enhanced CUBE T1WI and CUBET2FLAIR,enhanced T1FLAIR and enhanced CUBE T1WI and enhancedCUBE T2FLAIR applied together, enhanced CUBE T1WI,enhanced CUBET2FLAIR and enhanced CUBE T1WI and enhanced CUBE T2FLAIR appliedtogether.Enhanced CUBE T1WI is the best among the three, enhanced T1FLAIR,enhanced CUBE T1WI,enhanced CUBE T2FLAIR applied separatelyare all worse than enhanced CUBE T1WI and CUBE T2FLAIR appliedtogether in the detection rate of brain metastatic tumors. The CR oftumor/background is higher in enhanced CUBE T2FLAIR. The writerconsiders that the CUBE T2FLAIR can effectively inhibit the freecerebrospinal fluid and have a stronger blood flow void effect, which can bemore favorable to found the the sulci back or blood vessels near the metastatictumor. So enhanced CUBE T2FLAIR can be more effectively to display brainmetastases and better to identify the superficial blood vessels of brain andmetastases than enhance T1FLAIR, which can clearly show the edema aroundthe lesion. While the CNR of tumor/background is higher in enhanced CUBET1WI sequence. The reason is that CUBE T1WI has a relatively long echo trainand therefore to some extent it has a certain degree of magnetization transfereffects, achieve better background suppression, and obtain better contrast, which is able to get a better suppressed backgroud and a contrast. So enhancedCUBE T1WI can show the strengthen of metastases more clearly. In summary,if enhanced CUBE T1WI and enhanced CUBE T2FLAIR sequences can be applied together,it can better improve the detection rate and diagnostic accuracyof metastases.
