Objective:This study was to observe the changes of IL-17、IL-18 and lipid in serum and linical indicators before and after periodontal non-surgical therapies for periodontitis ccompanied with coronary heart disease, and to clarify the necessity and effect of periodontal treatment for chronic periodontitis accompanied with coronary heart disease patients.Methods:150 patients were divided into 3 groups:50 systemically and periodontal healthy subjects (H); 50 patients with chronic periodontitis(CP), and 50 with both chronic periodontitis and CHD(CHD+CP). The serum levels of IL-17、IL-18、lipids and periodontal parameters(clinical attachment loss, probing depth, and sulcus bleeding index) of the 150 patients were detected. Ultrasonic supragingival scaling was carried out for CHD+CP group and CP group. Subgingival scaling and root planing were carried out for 2-4 times. The baseline clinical periodontal parameters was examed after treatment at 6 weeks and 12 weeks for CHD+CP group, and at 6 weeks for CP group. The samples of serum and clinical periodontal index were acquired.Results:①The baseline clinical indicators of periodontal PD、CAL、SBI in CHD+CP group and CP group was significantly higher than the H group(P<0.05), while AL, SBI of CHD+CP group are higher than CP group, the difference has statistical significance(P<0.05).②Baseline serum IL-17、IL-18 and lipids levels of three groups were significantly different, CHD+CP group and CP group were higher than H group, and CHD+CP group were higher than CP group, the differences had statistical significance (P<0.05).③CHD+CP group and CP group showed significant clinical improvement after periodontal non-surgical therapy. IL-17、IL-18 and total cholesterol(TC-C)、low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)and triglyeride cholesterol (TG-C) levels decreased, whereas high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) increased after treatment, all the differences had statistical significance(P <0.05).Conclusion:Periodontal treatment can impact IL-17、IL-18 and blood lipid levels in serum, suggesting periodontal treatment can improve systemic inflammatory state. It need more clinical research to demonstrate the point of view furtherly.
