Study On The Characteristics Of Distributions Of Physical Type Of Chinese Medicine In The Patients With Asthma In Guangzhou

ObjectiveThrough the investigation of physical type of patients with asthma in Guang zhou, analyze the characteristics of distributions of physical type of patients with asthma and Provide the basis for the clinical treatment of asthma with constitution theory in traditional Chinese Medicine.MethodPatients treated in Guangdong Provincial Hospital were investigated by using a cross—sectional field investigation with a questionnaire based on Standard of Classification and Determination of Constitution in TCM. And the data were analyzed to draw Conclusions.ResultsThe distributions of physical type of respondents:50cases(26.3%)had normal type of constitution,135cases (71.1%) were biased constitution (abnormal),5cases (2.6%) were not able to be classified.37cases of the biased constitution had only one abnormal physical type,98cases had two or more abnormal physical type. The most three types of the abnormal constitution in sequence ((including the main physical type and the secondary physical type) were Qi—deficiency (64cases), Yang deficiency (56cases) and special intrinsic quality (45cases). The length of disease duration and degree of disease control did not affect the physical type of patients with asthma. Female patients were positively correlated with Yang deficiency. The onset of allergic disease such as Allergic rhinitis and Urticaria was positively related to special intrinsic quality. ConclusionPatients with asthma have significant constitutional tendency.More than70%of people have biased physical types, Qi—deficiency, Yang deficiency and special intrinsic quality may be associated with asthma incidence.
