Objective:To summarize the clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of primary small bowel tumors, compare the diagnostic value of different auxiliary examinations, improve the understanding of the small intestinal tumor of clinicians, and reduce misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis. Methods:The data of patients (January2005-December2010) with primary small intestinal tumors confirmed by postoperative pathology were collected and retrospective analysis.Results:235cases of primary small bowel tumors are diagnosed by pathological testing. There are no statistically significant differences in the age and gender of the patient.137cases of the most common mesenchymal tumor. The most common manifestation is gastrointestinal bleeding, and common sites of occurrence are in the jejunum and ileum. After surgery, the highest positive rate of immunohistochemical markers is CD117 (97.08%), followed by CD34(55.81%). The accuracy rate, the rate of consistency with the pathological diagnosis, identified by CE (capsule endoscopy) combined with abdomen CT is75.00%, which is significantly higher than the single use of CE (63.45%, P<0.01) or abdomen CT (57.67%, P<0.05). All patients were found be abnormal before surgery, followed by surgical removal of lesions, and pathology detection after surgery.Conclusions:(1) There was no relation between morbidity of primary small bowel tumors and age and gender of patient;(2) The clinical manifestations and serological examination of primary small bowel tumors are unspecific;(3) The combination of CE and abdomen CT scan is the first choice for patients and the noninvasive means to better diagnose and position primary small intestinal tumor, and thus will be the main method to preoperative diagnosis of the disease and helpful for the early diagnosis, early treatment and favourable prognosis;(4) Intestinal stromal tumors are more common in in the jejunum, and most are exogenous growth. However, histopathology especially immunohistochemical phenotype is still the golden standard;(5) Surgical resection is the effective treatment for primary small bowel tumors.
