[Abstract] Objective to assess hypertension patients the relationship betweenregional function of the left ventricle and the carotid artery Wave intencity. Methods:A total of30healthy subjects and30subjects with hypertension were included.Thetime to peak myocardial systolic velocity(Ts) and the time to peak myocardialearly-diastolic(Td) were obtained from the velocity-time curves of6segments of theleft ventricular short axis view at the level of papillary muscles with OME,which wereused to compared the changes of cardiac systolic and diastolic function of the twogroups. The magnitude of W1,and the length of R-W1interval as well as W1-W2interval were recorded by WI technique applied on the left carotid artery of eachpatiend, and assess the relationship between the the time to peak myocardial systolicvelocity(Ts) and W1.Results:1. Compared with that of the normal group,Td of the hypertension was significantlylonger in the lateral segments and antereroseptal(p<0.05).2. Compared with that of the normal group,Ts of the hypertension was significantlyshorter in every segments except inferior wall(p<0.05).3. W1in primary hypertension group increased compared with those of normalcontrols(p<0.05).4. W1was not correlated with the Ts mean of each wall.Conclusion:Omni-directional M-mode echocardiography can reflect the changes of the regionalsystolic function of the hypertension patients.
