Objective: To investigate the titanic elastic nailing and the steel platetechnology in children’s femoral shaft fracture treatment in the clinicalefficacy in the Qinghai area, provide a reference for clinicians choiceof treatment. Methods: The Affiliated Hospital of Qinghai University in March2010-October2011children’s femoral shaft fractures37cases of hospitalizedcases, according to the different treatment is divided into two groups:the titanic elastic nailing in the treatment group (A):19cases,including13males and6females, aged4--12years, the average age of6years old; the steel plate in the treatment group (B):18cases,including12males and6females, aged5--11years old, the average age6years old.Follow-up assessment of the patient hospital stay, operativetime, surgical incision, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative wounddrainage, full weight bearing time, time of fracture healing havedifference; and two surgical treatments for common concurrent disease andefficacy compared and analyzed. Results: The two groups of patients hospital stay, operative time, incision length, blood loss, postoperative wound drainage, full weightbearing, fracture healing time: statistically significance difference inthe duration of hospitalization (P<0.05), operative time difference wasstatistically significance (P<0.05), incision length difference wasstatistically significance(P<0.05), intraoperative bloodloss differ-ence was statistically significance (P<0.05),postoperative wound drainage difference was statistically significance (P<0.05), fully loadtime difference was statistically significance (P<0.05), fracturehealing time difference statistics significance (P<0.05); two groups ofskin necrosis, nonunion, joint stiffness and other complications did notoccur, in Group B one case of superficial soft tissue infections, fourcases of muscle atrophy, two cases of fracture of angular deformity(8-13°),in Group A one case of muscleatrophy, two groups of casesoccurred1case of leg length discrepancy, the diffference was notstatistically significance(P>0.05). Group A: excellent rate of94.73%,group B: excellent rate of66.67%, two groups of excellent rate differencewas statistically significance (P<0.05), group A were significantlybetter than the group B.Conclusion: The titanic elastic nailing and the steel plate in thetreatment of children’s femoral shaft fractures, compared common comp-licationrate and clinical efficacy was significantly better than thesteel plate,so to meet the case of indications and medical environmentand economic conditions permit, the elasticityof marrow withinthe titanic elastic nailing can be thepreferred treatment of childrenwith femoral shaft fracture fixation materials.
