Objective:To investigate the method TEN (titanium elastic nail)treating pediatric femoral shaft fractures comparing with the methods and the short-term clinical result of using an ordinary steel plate.Method:Since September2009to September2011, we collected the patients of pediatric femoral shaft fractures in total42cases, including of18patients of TEN plate and24patients of the ordinary steel plates. After conventional infection prevention, to stop bleeding, promote fracture healing and other drug treatment, early functional exercises. Results:All cases by the two groups after6-13months of follow-up,The surgical incision healed, no fracture displacement, wound infection, joint infections, loss reduction, internal fixation loosening, fixation failure, etc. Elastic intramedullary pin and ordinary plate fixation for treatment of children with femoral shaft fractures, in addition to surgical incision is significantly reduced, with less blood loss, shorter fracture healing time (P<0.05).Clinical healing of fractures in both, By"The diagnosis of common diseases and therapeutic efficacy"compared to evaluate the efficacy, TEN plate group94%excellent and good rate and Steel Group common good rate83%(P<0.05).Conclusion:TEN treating pediatric femoral shaft fractures with less operation incision, less blood loss, no damage of epiphyseal plate, fixed firmly, clinical healing time is short, good recovery of limb function, the nails pull out convenience and child easy tolerance. In a word, it is an effective therapeutic approach for pediatric femoral shaft fractures.
