Degenerative and injuring spinal disease is a common chronic illness. The diseases seriously damage the labor ability of patients and affect the normal life. The quality of life of the patients decline and mental health problem often happen in patients. While recent researches on clinical features and mental health of patients with Degenerative and injuring spinal disease is few in China, especially quantitative analysis. To identify the risk factors associated the diseases, illustrates the relations among personality, social support and mental health. The medical worker will adopt bio-psycho-social model to comprehensive treatment the diseases and to offer theory evidence for improve the life quality and mental health in clinical work.This investigate use questionnaire method. 198 clinic patients with Degenerative and injuring spinal disease as patients group and 198 patients dependents or staff as matched group were selected at random in Army Air Force General Hospital from August,2009 to May,2010. Two groups were investigated by self made survey,SCL-90,16PF and SSRS. This issue research the common danger factors and psychosocial factors of Degenerative and injuring spinal disease. Statistic methods such as sample t test that compare the mental health, personality and social support between patients group and control group. SCL-90, 16PF and SSRS of patient group carried out statistical analysis of correlation, regression and path analysis to explore the interaction mechanisms among them.The main results are showed as follows:1. There were influences among age, education, marriage and apartment of patients with Degenerative and injuring spinal disease. The disease is concerned with working-hours, work position, break, sports activities, sports frequency. The typical position of symptom is siting, stooping , standing and walking. The common inducing agent is tired, sedentariness, cold. The usual remittent position is prostration.2.The scores of total score, mean total score, somatization, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, hostility of SCL-90 in patient group were significantly higher than control group(P<0.05). The mental health status is influenced by course of disease and working-hours(P<0.05). The scores of A, I,O,Q4 of 16PF in patient group were higher than control group(P<0.05)and the scores of C,E,G,Q3 lower than control group(P<0.05). The scores of subjective support, useless of support and total score of SSRS in patient group were lower than control group(P<0.001).3.The B,C,G,Q3 got negative correlations with the score of SCL-90(P<0.05). The got positive significantly correlations with the score of SCL-90(P<0.05). Subjective support got negative correlation with the score of SCL-90(P<0.05). Personality and social support have significantly effect on mental health. The Q3,G,N,O and subjective support could classify the total scores of SCL-90.4. Path analysis showed objective support had indirect effect on mental health, subjective support had both direct and indirect effects on mental health. Personality was the modulating variable of social support to mental health.The main conclusion are showed as follows: The common inducing agent is tired, sedentariness, cold in patients of Degenerative and injuring spinal disease. The disease is concerned with working-hours, work position, break, sports activities, sports frequency. Personality and social support could classify the mental health of patients, Therefor, psychological support for the patients with injury degenerative spinal disease is very important. we should strengthen humane care and psychological support for patients in the later clinical diagnosis and treatment.
