A Study On The Literature Bvibliometrics Of Longan

Longan is a kind of economically important fruit tree attributed to the tropical or south subtropical zones. In this paper the literature bibliometrics of longan researches from 1989 to 2006 was studied by means of the method of literature bibliometrics in order to understand the developing dynamics of domestic and overseas longan researches and provide real and reliable data or information for the experts, scholars and leaders in the field of longan research and management.By means of the method of literature bibliometrics, based on the domestic and overseas databases of longan literature established respectively by using the websites of Chinese Journals (1989-2006), AGRIS(1989-2006) and CABI(1989-2006) as the data source, the annual longan literature quantity, journal quantity inserting longan papers, the quantity of longan literature on different subjects and author number were statistically analysed through data extraction, information database reconstruction and retrospective search:the core authors and core journals were also analysed; the proportion of total literature quantity of our country in different longan research fields was statistically analysed; Finally the literature on different longan research subjects based on the domestic database was reviewed, so as to provide reference for researchers.The results indicated as follows:the annual longan literature quantity of our country was at the middling or lower level in comparison with other kind of fruit trees:the literature quantity in the fields of the technology for cultivation management, biology characteristics and physiological/biochemical researches were much more than that in other fields, but the literature quantity in the field of biotechnology was the fewest based on the domestic database. The literature quantity in the fields of the technology for cultivation management, biology characteristics and physiological/biochemical research were much more than that in other fields, the literature quantity in the field of biotechnology and breeding were fewer than that in other fields based on the overseas database. The proportion of literature on biotechnology, fruit storage and process of longan based on the domestic database was lower than that based on the overseas database. The annual literature quantity based on the domestic database gradually increased from 1989 to 2006. The annual literature quantity based on the overseas database also gradually increased from 1989 to 2006, especially, it had a significant increase, in recent years. The changing tendency of annual literature quantity based on the domestic database was similar with that based on the overseas database. The literature quantity of our country based on the overseas database was the first (30.0%), that of Thailand was the second (19.0%), and that of America was the third (16.3%). There were 38 core authors and 10 core journals of longan research in our country based on the domestic database. The quantity of longan literature written by the researchers of our country at home and abroad accounted for 89.6% of the total literature quantity of longan researches in the world. The quantity of literature on the six sort longan research subjects written by the researchers of our country all accounted for over 80% of total the literature quantity of the six sort longan research subjects in the world. It suggested that longan research in our country be at leading level. The annual longan literature quantity of the six sort longan research subjects all increased in recent years, which showed that the research fruits of six sort longan research subjects increased continually. At last the research fruits of the six sort longan research subjects were reviewed respectively.
