Static composts were built with chicken carcasses and cow manure to simulate the composts for infectious carcasses disposal. Thermophilic microorganism in the compost was screened and made into agent. Its effect to promote the temperature increase was then evaluated. Five composts were built during this experiment, of which Compost1and Compost2were built with fresh cow manure and cow manure that had been composted for a20-day period respectively. The physical and chemical properties of the composts were examined. When the moisture was below60%, the ratio of carbon to nitrogen was between8.5~10.5, and the pH was between8.3-10.3, the temperature in the compost with a depth of30cm could reach50℃in Day-11and maintain above for3consecutive days. Compost3was built with fresh cow manure. Four thermophilic microorganisms were obtained from it, using different culture temperatures as screening criteria. The genomic DNA was extracted respectively, of which the16S rDNA was amplified, using PCR method, and then the products were sequenced. The four thermophilic microorganisms were Bacillus licheniformis and Anoxybacillus beppuensis respectively. Compost4and5were built with cow manure that had been composted for20days. One liter of mixed thermophilic microorganisms agent generated from Compost3was added to Compost4, while Compost5was added with one liter of sterilized medium. The temperature within the depth of30cm in Compost4could reach50℃in Day-4and maintain above for5consecutive days, while that in Compost5was below35℃for the whole20-day period, which showed no significant difference with the ambient temperature (P>0.05).
