According to the chassis of tracked harvester’s good driving performance and its influence to the environment, this paper designs and researches a new operating arm of the tracked harvester. The tracked harvester with new arm can avoid the repeatedly damage caused by the tracked harvester’s chassis and can cut the tree around it in the maximum extent on poor road condition areas of plantation forest in China.The new operating arm is improved by old operating arm which is like excavator’s operating arm.According to the tracked harvester’s work characteristics, this paper makes the overall basic parameters of the tracked harvester with a new operating arm, draws its CAD drawing, discusses the structural characteristics of new operating arm and builds the harvester virtual prototyping; then this paper uses the virtual prototyping to analyze and calculate the new operating arm’s kinematics、the tracked harvester’ stability and its operational indicator verification, the new operating arm’s finite element analysis and structural optimization and the new operating arm’s dynamics. All of these work is in order to vertify the rationality of the new operating arm and make ready for the physical prototype trial and the experiment.
