Rich germplasm resources was the foundation of grape variety improvement and varietybreeding, it was also a national strategic resources to some extent. By the end of2010more than1200grape varieties including wild species, local varieties, improved varieties, breeding materialsand crop wild relative which were collected from China, France, Former Soviet Union, UnitedStates and other33countries were conserved by National Fruit Trees Zhengzhou GrapeGermplasm Repository. The corresponding historical data of all resources were recorded also. Withthe survey work further developed, resources evaluation data will be more abundant. These dataused to preserved by paper document or electronic document, which made scientific research and datamanagement inconvenient and affected the grape utilization of germplasm resources on breeding,introduction and scientific research. Therefore, building a grape germplasm resources databasesystem based on the existing germplasm information is an important way to promote the newvarieties selection and improve the utilization of grape germplasm resources.In this study we designed and constructed the Grape Germplasm Resources Database based onthe user’s requirements. All the survey information of National Fruit Trees Zhengzhou GrapeGermplasm Repository was the data source of this database. The165descriptors of “descriptorsand data standard for grape (Vitis L.)” and other3items, which were added according to the actualdemand constituted the database tables. Using the popular web B/S (Browse/Server) model,ASP.NET as the development platform, SQL Server2005database technology to constructed theDatabase.This database system had the channel of information research, data statistics analysis, dataoutput and print and the background of dynamic information management. We can inquire14common descriptors through “advanced research” by “Accession name”,“Alien name”,“particularflavor”,“Beginning date of ripening”,“Biological type of accession” and so on. We can inquireinformation through the “standard research” by “survey year”,“Alien name”,“reference” andother165descriptors. When you search without limited year, the research result of numerical data was the average value of all year’s investigation information, if you want to get a given year’sinformation you should input precise time to limit the year. When you find out the correctgermplasm, touch “more information” then you can get the variety information of each years. One-dimensional Statistic Analysis can generate graphics according to statistical analysis. The results ofresearch and statistical analysis can be selective exported and printed based on the actual demand.The completion of this system achieved that the unified management of survey data ofexisting varieties in different years, broke through the disadvantages of the paper storage andelectronic document, accelerated the inquire speed, improved the utilization of germplasminformation, made the information query, management more convenient and faster. It is significantfor grape breeding, scientific research, production test, introduced variety, variety selection and soon.
