The concept of the commercial complex, with its feature of large scale implementation, greatly aids the effectiveness of business activities, simultaneously benefiting the co-existence of different types of enterprise. However, this does not mean that the larger the organization, the better it is. The greater the means of commercial assembly, the more commuter traffic problems there will be. From the perspective of the commercial mall with the multi-functional entity as its main theme, if the conventional method of arrangement of centralized mall lobbies is to persist, once the interior shop units become too numerous and are located too deeply within the building, great differences in the commercial values of shop units may arise, even possibly leading to the failure of the entire initiative. The value of each shop unit in the shopping mall should follow realistic standards of commercial demand and be equalized on an average basis. This suggestion calls for, firstly, a strategy implementation with a realistic understanding the consumer’s mindset, so that the concept for the shopping mall will have an all rounded potential for further development. The next step is to bring in the transport infrastructure linking the urban areas and the shopping units-the Pedestrian Street (along with planning and design methodologies), thus combining the "centralized" and "de-centralized" features, with similar standards, so as to fully realize the equalization and averaging of commercial values of shop units. This paper brings together the main points of the research of services industry of the Commercial complex concerning the planning and design of the Pedestrian Street, introducing the practical experimentation methodologies of the commercial shop spaces of the shopping mall. It is hoped that this research will help the scientific development of large scale Commercial complex for China. The theme of this paper is "the Pedestrian Street and their space design and research for Commercial complex shopping malls". Firstly, the paper discusses the basic principles of the Commercial complex entity, the Pedestrian Street of shopping malls and their analyses, clearly stating the former’s importance for the latter. Based on descriptions from the previous literature review, the study revolves around the concepts of fixated, practical arrangements of shopping units and human psychology as a basis. Research of consumers’ spending patterns, shopping behavior and psychology and its demands on the introduction of the construction of the Pedestrian Street, with the combination of the "centralization" and "decentralization" concept analysis, summarizes the planning of Commercial complex Pedestrian Street, its planning principles, and design strategies. Lastly, an assessment of the future of Commercial complex Pedestrian Street is made, with the hope that this study will contribute to the commercial Pedestrian Street designs and research. The paper is divided into four sections.Section1:Analysis of the problem and supporting argumentsChapter1:Literature Review-The history of the development of Commercial complex. Relevant literature about its design conditions within China and without, with clear statement of the research objectives, contents and research methodologies.Chapter2:Introduction of analytical breakdown of principles and relevant literature-Introducing the four main factors that concern the construction of Commercial complex, principles of planning, organization and overall design.Section2:Planning Principles and Design StrategiesChapter3:Planning and research of shopping malls’ Pedestrian Street-presents many real life examples gained from practical research-From the perspective of the consumer, to the analysis of the relationships of Commercial complex organization and interior the Pedestrian Streets’distances. The use of breakdown research methodology is used to conduct research on various types of the Pedestrian Street’ arrangement designs and flat models. Lastly, the study of bazaars was brought in, and the bringing up of three different types of the Pedestrian Street and their practical experimental methodologies.Chapter4:The design of spaces of shopping mall Pedestrian Street. Analysis of research of relevant solutions towards problems brought about by Commercial complex spaces of the Pedestrian Street. There is also the merging of "centralization" and "de-centralization" concepts, and an emphasis on the importance of the research of the centralized shop unit spacing model design.Section3:Analysis of real-life examples and conclusions, which are covered in Chapter5and6. Chapter5focuses on the merging of case studies data collected personally, along with corresponding examples. Chapter6is the conclusion of the future assessment of the designs of the Commercial complex Pedestrian Street.
