Due to a large number of businesses need long-range and intelligent platform in Electricity network system. Therefore, the construction of network communication platform is imminented. The latest guiding ideology of Power Communication Network’ construction is that based on fibre and broadband wireless technology. But the usage and testing technology is still immature. The lack of testing methods and devices can not meet the demand of wireless communication network such as independ on grid, large bandwidth, long transmission distance. Although, the application and testing methods in telecommunication industry is mature, it is still needs to be improved in the power industry. There are lots of diffirent demands between power system and telecommunication system, such as up-down bandwidth allocation, security, real-time. Due to this, this paper improve the original testing method. The method in this paper uses UDP simulate TCP protocol transmission that can improve flexibility and reliability. At the same time, this paper develop a set of processes and norms of the power communication network, and put forward the concept of the reference test environment and business success rate. The following part is the main work of this paper:1This paper proposes a set of power system broadband network performance test methods for broadband network in the power system network communication test network performance indicators and statistics. Characterized in that, including the definition of the source of power systems business data packets, configuration parameters, and business data transmission, the network performance parameter statistics, background flow module, and the test results of the dynamic display and statistical records. This method can be used to power wireless network traffic carrying capacity test measured network performance indicators to evaluate the performance of the entire network.2In this paper, it analyzes the power communication protocol IEC60870-5-101and IEC60870-5-104. It defines the format of business data and the process of data transmission between the master stations and sub-stations. According to the protocol of, it defines the specific content of business and realizes order transmission between master station and sub-stations.3In this paper, it achieved the electric power communication business simulation software. This software is used on the generating data packet of information collection system, power load management system and distribution automation system, and the background traffic. The purpose of adding backeground traffic is to simulate the real network, do carring capacity stress test, and analyze the impact of different backeground traffic on transimission. The power communication business source software’s function is similar to the combination of the actual electricity service terminals.4In the paper, it achieved the network performance testing software. This software is used on test network’s performance indicators, including network transmission delay, network throughput, packet loss rate of the network transmission, network transmission, the bit error rate, maximum concurrent number of connections and operational success rate. And performance indicators can be recorded in accordance with time, and generated to reports.
