| The way that we try to analyze the compact development issues from only one city or area cannot fit the request of globalization and informatization since21century, when Compact concept which was one of the most important factor of sustainable development has become the significant means of making city planning in most of countries in the world. Once the compact concept was introduced to China, experts and governments paid much attention on it. However, traditional approaches to compact city focuse on urban scale and employ the measurement of single region, it is hard for us to analyze the basic roles of agglomeration and diffusion of regional factors from macrosystem level, as a result, the introduce of the concept of compact region and the measurement need to be put forward. This article presents what is compact region on the basis of geomorphologic division, compares compactness of different areas from space level, and summarizes the evolution properties according to time, at the end we can get the spatial distribution features and evolution laws which are one of the most important ways to prove the spatial pattern of social and economic development in China.This thesis chooses "Guiding questions" as the research train, and insists on the pricinple that paying equal attention to theory and practice, taking the technical route that problem finding and introducing-theory building-empirical analysis-summary, therfore it can be divided into three senctions as follows. The first section is introduction, it analyses the application of compact concept in urban planning of our country and the problems behind it, pointing out the problems that this paper need to solve, which constructs a research problems and the framework for the research. The second section is the theory building part, it proposes the concept of compact area, and combing the current compact concept from the city to the regional development stage of evolution and the measure of compactness, which laying the foundation for building below regional comprehensive measure compactness model. From the section three to five is the empirical analysis part of the thesis, they build compact degrees’comprehensive measure index system and model based on the landform regionalization, meanwhile compare and analyse compact degree’s evolution trend and development pattern of each item since2002. Finally, these parts evaluate the regional comprehensive compact degree synthetically, analyse its spatial layout, differentiation and evolution law, and validate regional space development pattern based on geomorphic types in our country. The section six and seven sums up our country’s regional compact development mechanism and finally summarize the research work of this thesis.Compact region and compact city have the same Intrinsic characteristics, for example, the mixed elements, the compact form, the compound function and so on. The general compactness conbines population, economy, transportation and space and other all aspects, it is the comprehensive assessment of the regional development. Above all, China’s main regional compact degree characteristics can be summarized as follows:(1) The high comprehensive compact degrees focused on the eastern coastal areas, and showed a trend of decrease from east to west;(2) The interregional differences is obvious;(3) The compact degrees of Plains regions are higher than the plateau, hilly and mountainous areas;(4) the spatial layout of regional comprehensive compact degree showed diversification. Since2002, through spatial evolution of regional comprehensive compact degree we can get three development pattern:dot pattern, banding pattern and flake mode. |
