With the rapid development of world economy, the consumption of oil and natural gas grows with each passing day. However, as a non-renewable resource, terrestrial oil and gas resource has already experienced more than100years of development, and has been in exhaustion, so people set their sights on the vast ocean. Mobile offshore drilling platform has played a pioneering role in offshore oil exploration and exploitation, the oilfield could be exploited where it can drill. Therefore, the technical level of mobile offshore drilling platform has a direct influence on the ocean petroleum exploitation ability of a country. Especially with saturation of the development of the shallow water resources, and booming in deep-water development, in addition, the special work environment in mobile offshore drilling units (far away from land, compact layout, existing combustible and explosive gas), when the fire occurs, the rescue from outside is difficult to play a role, fire protection system on the platform itself can only rely to fire control, fire fighting and strive for valuable time for external aid, to avoid catastrophic losses. Therefore, there is a great practical significance to strengthen the research on fire prevention and control for mobile offshore drilling platform, in particular on design and application of water fire-fighting system.This thesis introduces the design of the water fire-fighting system for an offshore jack-up drilling platform:first of all, determine the overall design scheme for the water fire-fighting system of mobile offshore drilling platform; according to the overall layout of platform, design the process principle of water fire-fighting system; by the performance comparison of several kinds of pipe, select galvanized pipe as a pipe material of water fire-fighting system which is the highest cost-effective; conduct the design and type selection of foam extinguishing system; through the calculation to determine the diameter and wall thickness; and introduces the application of PDMS software to carry on the steps and main points of piping installation design; selection of fire pump through hydraulic calculation of the pipelines.In addition, in order to better achieve the design intention, this thesis summarizes the construction and installation experiences for the water fire-fighting system of mobile offshore drilling platform, analyze some common problems and give a solution. Finally, through the system debugging, verify the rationality of the design, correct the problems which found from the debugging process. From the debugging results, the system which constructed according to the design can completely meet the requirements of relevant standards.This thesis realizes the combination of design and construction experiences for the fire water system of mobile offshore drilling platform, the systemic design of fire water system was completed, and summarizes the technical experience of on-site installation, debugging process. This thesis research results have great quotable reference significance for fire-fighting system design and construction of offshore platform.
